Which season has the best episodes for you?

Hey everyone, I'm watching the series for the first time with my girlfriend, and we're currently on episode 10 of the second season. In your opinion, without spoilers, what are the best episodes of the series? And which season has the best episodes?

Two and three tie. Two has this transformation as a result of Lucy having her injury that shaped both seasons and gives us some of the strongest character work. Season 3 feels like it's making up for lost stunt time.

Season 2 for all the Callisto episodes. Season 3 for Bitter Suite alone.

For me, the best season is 3
And these are some top voted favorite episodes of the series we chose as a community on last year:

Last year? How time flies! Now I wished I format it better.

For me it's a tie between Season 3 and Season 6 minus AFIN, I refuse to watch those episodes ever again.

I'm on my first watch but started skipping around and I cannot bring myself to watch the final two. I've seen the final few minutes but I have yet to watch those episodes in full. At first S3 seemed like a slog but after watching some videos on youtube I found a new appreciation for that season. The S6 stuff I've seen says, "It's our last season and we have nothing to lose, so make the gay even gayer." I'm okay with that since the whole show is campy.

Yeah just don't watch the final two episodes, you're not missing anything in my opinion but a lot of heartbreak. I don't know how you feel about Xena and Gabrielle's relationship but that is one of the reasons I love season 6 is because they just stopped caring and said screw you, they are together, this is the end, and we are giving our most loyal fans what they have wanted for so long. But then they went and ripped our hearts out with the ending of the show. 😭
And yeah Season 3 does have it's moments that are not the greatest but then you have amazing episodes like One Against An Army that is one of the best episodes from the entire series that I'm pretty sure no Xenite has anything bad to say about. Maternal Instincts is another amazing one too that usually tops a lot of people's favorite episodes. Even if you don't watch all of Season 3 maybe pay attention to the posts where people ask about everyone's favorite episodes and if you see an episode popping up over and over as an answer, definitely check that out if you haven't seen it, because obviously it is golden for a reason. 😊

I'm definitely part of the "they're married" crowd. As for when it happened I don't know but that's why we have fanfiction. 😂 In a way I see them a bit like Brian and Justin from US Queer As Folk. They were open but they always came back to each other. Maybe I'll get drunk one night and watch AFIN and have a good cry.

If you’ve seen the final few minutes of the finale, you made it through the worst of it. In my humble opinion, you gotta watch at least the end to AFIN part 1 just once if you’re part of the “they’re married” crowd, it’s an essential moment!
I always beg new fans to at least give it one shot, though, especially if you already know what happens. Once you’ve ripped off that bandaid, you might find it beautiful (but I’m admittedly biased cuz it’s one of my fave episodes of the series)

All jokes aside, AFIN isn't all bad. The cinematography and acting are wonderful. Rob obviously put a lot of love and thought into it, and I commend him for that.
Regardless, Xena's death was sadly inevitable; luckily, she got to experience true, selfless love and got to right some of the world's wrongs before bidding farewell.

It's hard to say. Season 3 is probably the strongest imo, but the early dynamic of X/G can't be beat, and as much as I love the last season, a lot of the stories aren't necessarily tied together. Overall, I have to say season 2.
You have two kisses between X/G as well as Gabrielle dealing w/ the loss of her best friend.

probably an unpopular opinion but I just have so much nostalgia for Season One ... Gabi with her little baby face!

Season 1 is very overlooked for sure. Has some great episodes.

2, 5 and 6 are my personal favourites. But really you should form your own opinions as you go on that journey :-)

Season 6 has the episodes I rewatch the most
Lakinther@reddit
I really like episodes 12-16 in season 2
ObnoxiousConsistent@reddit
s2 has the most classic vintage Xena feel episodes - for me it’s the ultimate nostalgia season. and of course A Day in the Life is the pinnacle of this.
s3 is probably the strongest season on average, some of the strongest dramatic entries and good season arc - but also fun comedies too. I particularly love the Chin episodes, and Maternal Instincts is heartbreaking but very good. bitter suite is an acquired taste i find. i appreciate it more now than i did before. and I love Been there done that
s6 has great standalone episodes and arcs- because the writers are just really up for anything in the last season. Norse arc, when fates collide, many happy returns, old ares had a farm, you are there etc…

Imo season 3 and 4. They are two seasons that have both several dramatic episodes but also the funny ones.
amyc7@reddit
Season 3 and 6.
pokonight@reddit
season 3. if you're looking for the gayest season, it's season 6
RotaVitae@reddit
Definitely Season 4 for me. They're not all gems, but the season is constructed as a tightly running narrative with a beginning and an ending. You see the events predicted for the finale in the premiere, and so the entire season is a nail-biting navigation of what could happen vs. what will happen. The finale of the arc is widely touted as one of the best episodes of the series. Previous seasons didn't have writing this tight.
Season 4 was also the height of fight choreo for Xena and has some of the best single duels and group fights in the series. They tried out some new harness techniques on Zoe and the other stunties and it really shows.
A bevy of new characters, good and evil, are really great ones.

Toss up between 2 and 3 for me. I'm leaning more towards 3 since it has some really standout episodes.
