Are the Rising fuel prices a concern?

What’s everyone’s opinion on the current fuel prices they government said they will use some of the stock pile but yet to see a decline
Mr-Incy@reddit
Of course they are a concern.
It affects almost every aspect of life, not only do people use fuel to commute/travel, companies use fuel to move raw materials and finished goods to where they need to be.
Higher cost of distribution is going to lead to higher cost of production, which obviously leads to higher cost to the consumer.
And that is ignoring the impact it has on those trying to dodge the bombs the orange gibbon has decided to start throwing about because he has an ego to satisfy.
IDKBear25@reddit
Won't affect me.
Coocoocachoo1988@reddit
If things got cheaper at any point, probably not, but it seems recently things only go up in price.
Zealousideal-Air574@reddit
What kind of fucking stupid question is that
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Cheers mate
O_C_Demon@reddit
He's right though pal 🤷♂️
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
It was open question if you take it directly then of course it’s stupid but that’s straight up interpretation
O_C_Demon@reddit
Thats not an open question mate. Thats literally a yes or no question.
Drug_Taker917@reddit
It's not though, because the answer is entirely subjective, it's an opinion
O_C_Demon@reddit
The title is a yes or no question then.
Drug_Taker917@reddit
The "in your opinion" is obviously implied, just like every other question, you berk
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Opinion on the situation could go into multiple categories so its not quite just a black and white question
O_C_Demon@reddit
I think its just your title seems wrong then. I don't know 🤷♂️
Zealousideal-Air574@reddit
Well I mean come on… you gunna go on “askIran”next and ask if they’re worried about the war
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Yes lad good idea I’ll do exactly that
Asleep-Software-4160@reddit
Just dusting off the old penny farthing now.
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Lil bit of wd40 to keep it going
Commercial_Nature_28@reddit
Yes it's a concern for every aspect of the economy. Oil is used for everything and the strait is even important to grow food. The economy is in big trouble
Emotional_Half_7679@reddit
This is the most sensible comment so far. The government is cautiously playing down this impact to stop panic buying, which will causes further panic buying. We have 90 days reserve, once we start eating into that , that is when limits will be put in place, say £30. If oil hits €150, a barrel we will see the average £2 a litre everywhere, not just at service stations and this will happen sooner than later, and prices will go higher. Once tha happens will likely see mandatory speed limits, perhaps enforced wfh, where people can, and critical/key worker fuel only stations. Likely power cut situations. Food inflation will reportedly hit 20% by June. Its being reported as the worst oil situation in history and it’s twice as bad as the disruption created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; worse even than the 1973 oil embargo, as it affects not just oil but the transportation of many key goods, products. I dont think many people have grasped the severity and the impact it will have.
ActionBirbie@reddit
Identikit questions are a concern.
Second_Guess_25@reddit
Obviously not a concern to my husband, who accidently put in the high octane stuff in the tank, instead of the regular stuff, recently. £50 for 23 litres 💀😭
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
I’ve done that exact mistake literally last week 🫠😂
Second_Guess_25@reddit
Do it again and I'll file for divorce 🤣
Prior-Moment872@reddit
Far more worried about interest rates on mortgage products with my mortgage due to expire next April!
matty491@reddit
We locked in a 1.9% interest rate on our first mortgage 4 years ago, I am absolutely bricking next year when our 5 year deal ends!
Safe-Consideration88@reddit
I'm not directly worried on the price, BUT prices of goods have to go up inline :(
Nandor1262@reddit
They will and have gone up in line with it. A pack of mince is about £8 now
NoCold3997@reddit
Nawww .it will keep going up till everything goes boom or it will go down till everything goes boom ..either way it's all the same.
Second_Guess_25@reddit
I remember when there were fuel strikes when it reached £1 per litre back in the early '00s 🫣 How times change.
Delicious-Fee-6225@reddit
Wasn’t fuel up to about £1.90 a few years back? This shit happens, enjoy the fallout of trumps war.
atsevoN@reddit
Yeah summer 2022, I was paying £2 a litre then
LazyEmu5073@reddit
I have to keep diesel receipt scans for work, just checked mid-July 22, diesel was £1.969 here in the Midlands.
atsevoN@reddit
I was using premium and I’m East Midlands I think in July it was 1.99 if I remember correctly, just rounded up ha
Delicious-Fee-6225@reddit
See, silver linings, at least it isn’t as bad as then 😊
SiriusBlack99999@reddit
Fuel prices shoot up like a rocket and fall like a feather. We will feel the pain for a very long time.
UnremarkableCake@reddit
It's going to get a lot worse over the next few weeks, even if the war ended right this second. Tankers on the way to Europe that set off before the war are still on their way, but once those last tankers unload there's going to be a looooooooooooong gap before more arrive. I woudn't be surprised if we see diesel over £2.50/l before the end of the month.
katspike@reddit
The more the US blows up, the more they will charge ships in the strait to pay for the repairs. We will all be paying reparations to Iran for many years.
CarpetPedals@reddit
We haven’t even suffered any shortage of supply yet. The shortage we’ve experienced so far is purely from panic buyers increasing demand above regular amounts. The first ships blocked in the straight of Hormuz still wouldn’t even have arrived here yet.
Spadina76@reddit
Prices no shortages yes
scrotalsac69@reddit
It's bloody expensive, I suspect this will accelerate ev's though
No-Translator5443@reddit
Doubt it, some will get a ev and go back to petrol/diesel
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Yeah I know a few people recently switching over
bishibashi@reddit
Honestly it’s a bit of a pain but compared to living in one of the countries directly associated with this shitshow I feel guilty complaining.
Harribo1034@reddit (OP)
Yeah that’s definitely a guilt in the back of the mind when looking at the direct impact to lives of those associated with the war
Elster-@reddit
More worried about the gas prices than the petrol/diesel prices
