Hello, I recently came into two free sticks of 8gb ddr5 sticks (lucky me) and now im trying to make a budget 1080p pc for my little brother he mostly plays minecraft but on mobile, i found the Intel Core i3-14100 LGA 1700 at b&h for $100 which ive seen support ddr5 theres also some more options at $150 like the Intel Core Ultra 5 225F 10-Core LGA 1851 Processor but i wanna keep it as low as I can, all the other amd options start around $160 range too near the microcenter and other stores i live near, just so im clear no im not getting a 5500, 5600, or any AM4 CPU, i love them, i had one, but I have ddr5 ram on hand. Im pairing this build with a 3060. Just wondering if i should proceed with the i3 - 14100 or watch out for other budget intel or amd options

Both the i3-14100F and the Core Ultra 5 225F aren't worth it at all. I suggest getting the Ryzen 5 7500F instead.
About the i3-14100F, it's slower than the Ryzen 5 5600X at gaming even with DDR5 RAM sticks according to TechPowerUp (the variant that TechPowerUp tested has an iGPU).
About the Core Ultra 5 225F, it's slower than the similarly priced Ryzen 5 7500F at gaming according to Hardware Unboxed.

yeah i know the 7500f is the cheapest and best budget am5 cpu but when i looked online i can only find it used, along with the microcenter near me flat out not carrying it and i really trust b&h as i have gotten amazing service and fast shipping. since the pc wont be multitasking and only doing 1080p i genuinely wanna get the most budget option but the issue honestly might be finding a compatible motherboard out of the millions of proprietary sockets intel loves

I got the 7500f pricing from https://www.memoryc.com/76009-amd-ryzen-5-7500f-processor-3-7-ghz-32-mb-l3-tray.html
By the way, b&h doesn't have much in the way of CPU stock available as of time of writing this comment. You're basically stuck with either Micro Center or other online stores unless you're willing to wait for a few week.
I'll wait for your reply before we continue.

will just get the i3- 14100F, i am well aware there will be a bottleneck, but in any case when the time comes ill just upgrade that pc to an i5/i7 of that same generation, ive had bad experience with aliexpress in the past.

I didn't mention anything about aliexpress.

7500f in the US is commonly bought on aliexpress. Loads of people have done it. multiple threads on “is it safe?”
However I see some on eBay for similar pricing, and you do have money back guarantee there.
If budget is the concern here, I don’t see the issue buying used.

I'd be looking around for a used 12400/F.

i5 or i3?
9okm@reddit
The 12400 and 12400F are both i5s.

I'd be looking around for a used 12600k/kf.
