Let’s say this is a 2017 civic you bought CPO and you’re 27 and these friends are the kids you’ve known since early elementary, and they’re the kind of people stupid enough to do this. A lot of people foaming at the mouth here for OP thinking ahead enough to ask before acting.

Unless it's your car or you have expressed permission, don't put stickers on paint. They can trap dirt under them when putting them on, you'll scratch the paint trying to get under the edge to pull them off, they can strip clear coat or the glue can even be left behind. Windows are more resistant though. Stickers are a lot easier to remove and you have to intentionally try to actually damage anything during removal.

Pranks should be easily reversible and leave no trace behind. Stickers on a window fall under that imo

If you know he doesn’t have to use the car for anything immediate or has alternate transportation, you could maybe stickerbomb his windows. If they’re only on the car overnight and in the morning there shouldn’t have been enough heat to make it that hard to get the adhesive off. Just give him a razor blade to rub salt in the wound. And then help him get them off. But I definitely wouldn’t put stickers on paint and you have to be sure the friend wouldn’t act the way these people would.

I think vinyl static “stickers“ would be harmless. But any other type of sticker you run the risk of it being very difficult to remove and damaging the paint in the process.

My kids friends drew a penis on his hood with a dry erase marker, thinking it would come off like it does on dry erase boards. But the car was old, and the clear coat was thin, maybe it cooked in the sun, I don't know. But it was on there for a year, until a few hundred dollars in touch up paint and a crappy garage paint job. May as well be a derby car now after what him and his friends did to it over two years.

Any stickers can damage the paint, cheap or not.

I know I would be VERY unhappy if someone put a sticker on my car, ESPECIALLY on the paint. Closest I have done is putting an easily-removable P-Touch label inside the charging port flap of a friend's Tesla labeling it "butt hole" (there was a joke/easter egg about that)
