Buying just a new stopper / cap would be difficult, not to mention around the same price as the HWB. Just buy new. Around £5 in home bargains / pharmacies here.

I threw them away. Hot water bottles are actually kinda hard to come by in the US
RetroComputerKing@reddit
Really? Maybe I should start selling them on eBay for US customers 😁

To buy a hot water bottle at CVS is $20
silentdragoon@reddit
Just buy new. It's not worth getting scalded over

Today I learned
Shimster@reddit
Yea yours looks like expired in 2018. Go replace it.

Another top tip - don't put boiling water in your HWB. Very hot water is fine, but nothing with bubbles!
Boiling water reduces the lifespan of rubber HWBs

I always make a cup of tea when I'm doing my hot water bottle, once the tea has had time to get to strength, the water in the kettle has cooled enough to put in the water bottle.
fdeyso@reddit
If you have a new kettle with temp control 88-94Celsius is the highest you should go.
DescriptionFuture851@reddit
Get a new one, it's not worth taking a chance
Pedantichrist@reddit
Throw that away.

Recently had one of these burst in our house, within date, full of hot water. Will never use one again.

Same- gave me a real fright. I use a microwave wheat/lavender contraption and it feels safer at least
DECKTHEBALLZ@reddit
You should replace hot water bottles every 2 year that rubber circle in the picture has the date it was made so you know when to replace.
Asleep-Software-4160@reddit
Got a hot water bottle scald once, and because I was very very drunk I didn't wake up. A truly massive blister. It looked like my leg was giving birth to a blobfish.
EndShot3112@reddit
Hot water. Bottles only should be used for a maximum of 5 years, that's what I was always told by my mum and nan, So I would definitely say throw away and buy new ones!!!
frankchester@reddit
You shouldn't be using a hot water bottle for 6 years. Very dangerous. What does the flower mark indicate? It will tell you the date they expired.
Consistent-Maybe8955@reddit (OP)
I didn’t know 😅
AbhorrantApparition@reddit
My gf had serious burns when hers popped, happened to have it on her lower back at the time.
It was not a good time 0/10 do not recommend

Have you considered buying a replacement hot water bottle? You can pick one up for £3.25 from ASDA. This time of year they're cheap and, I'd have to point out - if the plastic has significantly weakened to the point of breaking through use - the rubber is probably not that far behind.
You should replace hot water bottles fairly regularly, every two to three years - check the Daisy wheel (also shown in your picture).
frankchester@reddit
It’s actually the date of manufacture that’s printed on the daisy, rather than the expiry
omghiemma@reddit
It's probably time you replace them anyway!
Jack1ngton@reddit
Should you save £5-10 buying a hot water bottle or risk scalding yourself? Come on OP
mhoulden@reddit
My mum bought a couple over the weekend. They were less than £5 each.
NortonBurns@reddit
A pair of pincers would have enough grip to get that out - but if you don't already have some, it wouldn't be worth it.
Trouble is, a new stopper would be a fiver, but a whole new bottle would only be about 6 quid.
Electricbell20@reddit
Heres a guide on safe use. Probably need to bin them.
