Anyone familiar with Big Brothers program in Dallas? Or something similar?

I was once a young man in desperate need of guidance. Without it, I ended up dealing with mental health issues, addiction, and even some time in prison. I've been sober for over a decade, have a good job, a young family, and would now like to give back in some way to young men who need it.
I was reading about the struggles young men are facing today, with both male loneliness and radicalization that they are facing at every turn, and realized that truthfully I would not have made it had I grown up in this time period.
Is Big Brothers of America something that's still active? Are there other similar programs in Dallas that would be better? I was (and still plan to) do a Google, but wanted to hopefully get some first hand perspectives from anyone who may be familiar with these programs or has participated themselves.
Any help would be appreciated!

Big Brothers Big Sisters is in desperate need of male volunteers. The application process is a bit extensive but it is totally worth it!

In a world of men being cancel cultured and thrown in the trash most guys would avoid volunteering with children with a 10 foot pole. Not worth the scrutiny. Not worth all the questioning.

What an odd thing to say

Sitting out is exactly what makes the problem worse… Boys need positive male role models precisely because good men keep opting out. BBBS has one of the most thorough vetting processes out there. It protects the kids AND the volunteers. The culture you’re frustrated with isn’t going to shift because men stayed home. It will shift because men show up and do the work anyway.

Too many good dudes have been hurt trying to help youth. Sitting on your hands and not getting involved takes that danger away. Sorry it has to be that way. Society makes it like that.

I don't know of any man who has been hurt by trying to help the youth. I think you might just be projecting hun.

The process is the same for men and women who volunteer.

My husband has been a volunteer with BBBS here for several years and has really enjoyed it. I’d be happy to have him get in touch with you if you have questions about the experience. Thank you for wanting to make a difference - I know they are in desperate need of men to volunteer as another poster pointed out.

Year up United. I’m sure lots has changed but the original founder of this non profit was a member of the Big Brothers program. I’m an alum of the yearup program and it impacted my life in a positive manner. S/O to you for volunteering and helping the community.

I’ve been a Big with the Dallas office for 7 years. It’s a great program, and I recommend it! There is no curriculum - you just spend time together doing what your little likes to do. So definitely check it out, but try not to come in with too much of an agenda other than being consistent, positive and caring.
