Any California Burritos or Carne asada fries here?

Just moved here from SD, and I was wondering if there are any good Cali burritos or carne asada fries?
westcoastlmtd@reddit
There is none unfortunately. The Mexican food out here is not where close to the same level as SD or LA. Still haven't found anything good or worthy and I've been out here for 4 years now. Everything is tex mex and subpar compared.

Not in Plano but have you tried Marianas Taco Shop in Frisco or The Taco Stand in Uptown Dallas? Might be worth a try if you haven’t been
Lucky7C@reddit
No, silly, you’re in Texas. There aren’t ’Cali burritos’. Texas does Tacos.
And what in the white america is carne asada fries? You mean like flank steak and French fries?
Distribution-Radiant@reddit
My dude, no need to be racist. Cali-Mex is a big thing in Texas.
Lucky7C@reddit
Cali-mex isn’t a thing in Texas. French fries and Mexican food is like an oxymoron.
Also, I’m not racist you weirdo.
JacksonDWalter@reddit
It’s a thing in Houston and Austin. Wouldn’t surprise me if we’ll start having more Cali-Mex food in Dallas like what happened with ramen or hotpot places.
Distribution-Radiant@reddit
Cali-Mex is very much a thing in Austin, and it's becoming a thing in DFW.
Lucky7C@reddit
“San Diego style food” is hilarious.
Distribution-Radiant@reddit
That's like saying "El Paso style food" is hilarious.
I grew up in ELP, which has its own unique style of food. Every region does.

Okay pal.
I’m gonna check out now. Enjoy your search for food that doesn’t exist and I’ll see ya on the next thread.

SD'er here.. Yeah, you're missing those all meat burritos from Rambertos, Filibertos, et. al., right? I know... I went through the exact same withdrawal.
Valeries' taco shop was my answer for a true SD Carne Asada burrto.
Puzzleheaded_View225@reddit
It’s a drive but there’s actually a Roberto’s in Bedford.
Kaylamarie92@reddit
Omfg I had to double check to see if it was true. That yelp picture with the styrofoam tray full of fries, carne asada, and verde sauce almost made me cry. I would get a plate once a week on payday when I worked at Disney. I’m so excited to try them now!

Happy to give you the good news!

King Kups food truck is in McKinney. It is almost always at the NE corner of 75 and Virginia in the Exxon parking lot. Carne asada fries are way better than Valerie's, and they usually run a special on Friday. Check their FB or IG feed to make sure they are open, usually Tuesday to Saturday, 11-830. kingkupsofficial
edmonet@reddit
Valerie’s taco shop open 24/7

The one in Plano had some less than stellar inspection scores recently, so that’s a no thanks for me
robsten_lover@reddit
I've read that the Plano location isn't good but the one in Allen/McKinney on Alma/121 is the spot
BigMrAC@reddit
Personally agree. The fillings in the tacos more closely match what’s described on menu at the McKinney location, Plano’s drive through can be hit or miss depending on the order or skimp on the proteins.
Jesussaves2234@reddit
Alma one is terrible, I’ve lived in that area previously and went there a few times. It’s 2 out of 10 and the one in plano is about a 7 or 8 out of 10 depending on who cooks your food.
(Sometimes it’s fresh and sometimes they just throw it together)
CaliDally@reddit
I would argue that’s backwards. I prefer the Plano location to the McKinney one by far if we’re talking strictly about the food.
LittleSubject9904@reddit
Yes yes yes. And the one in Plano is delicious.
cylaali@reddit
Valerie's was disappointing. I don't think you can get the same thing here for whatever reason.
Longjumping-Bat7774@reddit
Valeries is where it's at for breakfast burritos. For carne fries I go to Pollo Regio
NefariousnessOk8995@reddit
Taqueria Los Angeles is OK
Valerie's taco shop is doable of you really have a craving
I wish there were better options
xbinary@reddit
I second with Taqueria Los Angeles being OK
Longjumping-Bat7774@reddit
Try Pollo Regio
Far_Employer_7375@reddit
Valerie’s Taco Shop, Taqueria Los Angeles, La Salsa Verde.
Dodgers rule, Padres drool.
Longjumping-Bat7774@reddit
Man, I like las Angela's, but they're a little over priced... But the portions are pretty big. I prefer Pollo Regio right down the block.
Longjumping-Bat7774@reddit
Pollo Reggio. Good stuff.
Ok_Negotiation_9383@reddit

Cadian@reddit
Up on Main Street in Frisco is Mariana's Taco Shop.
Solid.

No. No fam. I’ve been here since 2009. The only place that comes close is Frezko Taco Spot but that’s in Bedford. They used to have a spot in The Colony 😕
