Who are the beat Car Review Youtubers?

In the case of Tech, The likes of MKBHD, MRwhosetheboss, are all people who make reviews of Smartphones, but never dwelve deeply into it and are also not that good at calling out the negatives. i trust GSMArena, Samuel Nam, GeekyRanjit for it. For Laptops, I trust Just Josh, notebookcheck instead of Hardwarecanucks, mathewmoniz.
In the case of Cars, there must be someone who I can trust, someone who also reviews Consumer's cars as well rather than the luxury ones. Could you guys point those youtubers out for me to look into them?
TallComputerDude@reddit
I like Sarah -N- Tuned because I want to know about differentials, transmission, brake sizes, measuring exhaust, and all that. Great things to know if you plan to do mods or care about handling.
I like Driving Sports TV for off-road testing because I want to know how the different hardware and stability systems perform at the limits. That's more about combo of hardware and software.
I like Auto Buyers Guide | Alex On Autos because of the detailed information about interior volume and his BF is 6'5" so I know he'll be able to tell me whether tall people can fit.
I like Brian Makse because he addresses the hive mentality of car reviewers and the comments section. He's not afraid to be independent and say what they are all missing because sometimes reviews feel like they have just parroted the comments section and add very little new information.
spicyboi26@reddit
Agreed on Driving sports tv, I like his style. Haven’t seen the others though.
TTTBeekman@reddit
Alex is great if you're actually buying a car and knowing how it will fit with your lifestyle.
United-Bite4135@reddit
Re-driven, Aussie channel that reviews used cars
Common-Substance-598@reddit
my boyfriend likes zygrene! does track reviews and street reviews.
Astramael@reddit
This dude is a painfully biased Honda fanboy. Content can be okay, just gotta keep that in mind.
doduhstankyleg@reddit
His old stuff for sure, it was S2K vs everything else, sometimes S2K vs S2K.
His new content has pretty cool builds, but a wider range of different builds would keep things fresh.
doduhstankyleg@reddit
He loves the S2K fanatically, but he’s a great reviewer. He reviews a lot of modded or quirky cars that are tuned for the street and track. He’s an avid track junkie too so he knows what he talks about. I think he needs a wider range of cars though since he seems to review the same cars in different stages of their builds.
Zygrene’s production isn’t there yet, but his new stuff is much more polished than when he started off.
I would say his style of review is close to Matt Farrah’s old Smokin’ Tire reviews where he test-drove his reviewers’ rides.
ilikewolves99@reddit
Savagegeese and Sarah N Tuned are two of my favorites. Break down more of the technical aspects and aren’t afraid to point out issues with the models and company.
SloppySmack756@reddit
TopherDrives is a good one. He also does Winding Road Magazine which is a no talking car walk-around and drive which is cool to be able to hear all the actual sounds of the car and engine.
bruh_the_person@reddit
Savagegeese and throttlehouse are my favourites, throttlehouse is more entertainment focused but I don’t think I’ve seen them endorse a car they think is bad. Savagegeese is more technical and straight to the point
ItsZeus99@reddit
For the usa there is doug, throttle house. For the uk/europe I personally like high peak autos and jayemm both wonderful imo.
DarthElevator@reddit
I like Savagegeese. they are more oriented for enthusiasts but will give it to you straight based on value for the average consumer.
Complex210@reddit
Theyre fine but hyper biased and wont even give an EV a fair shake. They have a strict "purist" poverty and shit on anything outside that narrow segment.
PersimmonGlum6536@reddit
It's the one thing no one will talk about when it comes to SG. Like how they got an FL5 CTR when they were basicallyimpossible to find in CA, tried to do damage control because they didn't want to admit they'd give the dealer some exposure in exchange for it, and then threw a couple videos up where they basically wrote every other FWD sport sedan off because the Honda and Acura (that you should TOTALLY buy from our honeypot dealer friend) were just leagues ahead.
Giant49erWarrior@reddit
Well there needs to be a good EV product to give it a fair shake
Complex210@reddit
There are, one even won throttle houses car of the year award over the Porsche 911 st. It also beat out a manual M2 for being more fun around a racetrack in a carwow video. Savagegeese just said, crap crap crap screw EVs. They also never even reviewed a model S plaid. They car ONLY about track capable ICE powered lightweight manual cars.
andre1157@reddit
There are also caveats to that. The hyundai won because its more than they expected it to be. Everyone expects a 911 to be great, but no one expects a EV hyundai to be great. So its shock value put it ahead. As they mentioned in the video, DO NOT BUY ONE, because it loses 40k of its value as soon as you do. Not exactly the kind of things you say about a car you just gave an award to huh
Complex210@reddit
Thats because of EV incentives, you dont buy ANY ev, you need to lease them first to get like $20k+ in incentives.
I know because I have the Ioniq 5N and got $22k off.
lumpiawrappers@reddit
👌
Gain_Spirited@reddit
I like Savagegeese. He's a straight shooter and if a car is trash he will tell you that.
Phrexeus@reddit
+1 for savagegeese. They are less entertainment-focused and more technical, at least compared to people like hagerty, carwow, throttle house.
Jayemm on cars is good and very consumer-first. He's driven and talked about hundreds of cars at this point.
TellemTom@reddit
Old Regular car reviews videos are YouTube classics at this point.
Hoosiers at the Track day bro… let’s kiss.
Mike__O@reddit
I used to really like RCR, but I had to unsubscribe when his channel became more about an English major circlejerk instead of just talking about the cars.
ApoTHICCary@reddit
I see your point, tho I also think that gave him a bit of an edge to the channel’s identity. It stopped clicking with me when he went to Jalopnik, and from time to time I’ll see an episode pop up so I’ll give it a try; each time it’s just been a let down.
ApoTHICCary@reddit
Old RCR was great comedy with some decent, sometimes surprising, car knowledge. I miss when it was about REGULAR cars, tho Brian had some good stuff with some a bit less “regular”. I feel once he joined Jalopnik, the quality of his content really went down and he struggled to gather that same feeling again. After leaving Jalopnik, it just never clicked again. I thought maybe I had just matured so my taste changed, but I still enjoy his old stuff.
I feel now he’s pandering to furries after endorsing his old roots and it’s just very odd. On top of the whole furry thing, the main issue I have is that it just doesn’t make much sense to how it connects with his channel. I am expecting to watch something about cars with some dark humor… yet I am watching Brian walk around a furry meet. It feels like he’s trying to get their attention to bring in more views from that whole community.
Anyways, I think RCR lost its identity and Brian is regressing badly in trying to restore it.
minionhammy@reddit
It’s the gleaming gold standard by which all car YouTubers should be compared.
Puzzleheaded-Race671@reddit
This will sound crazy hear me out yall I know he’s a bad guy but Andrew Tates car reviews are so funny 😭😭 and he’s very honest about them. Lots of car reviews the YouTuber are reviewer just has to twerk for the car because they want to keep getting special relationship for borrowing cars in the future
asul1843@reddit
Jason Camisa, Throttle House, savagegeese
oh and obligatory fuck Scotty Kilmer
ResourceSea2761@reddit
Nobody beats Doug Demuro. Sorry. I hope he never stops.
Any-Lengthiness9803@reddit
I wonder why this sub hates him so much? He’s one of the best, if not the best and he did it all with the least production value of any of these channels
Unique_Mix9060@reddit
I like throttle house, Striaght pipes, and everyday driver.
Of course Jason Camisa for his amazing production at Hargrety
Unique_Mix9060@reddit
Yeah and the other Jason, from engineering explained too
itafunnystory@reddit
Jason's videos are among my favorite things published on YouTube
Hukthak@reddit
Spot on, I’d add SavageGeese to the list as well.
SparkeeMalarkee@reddit
If you like vintage motorcycles give Hoxton Moto a look. Interesting stuff.
lch2019928@reddit
Sarah-n-tuned and car care nut are the best for technical review, the topher, tedward, savage geese are pretty solid wholistic reviewers
Routine-Barber5545@reddit
Sarah-n-tuned definitely. Electrifying and Autogeful are great too
12345skroobcase@reddit
I just discovered Autogefuhl a few weeks ago and I’m loving their content. A little bit like a German version of Raiti’s Rides. Very thorough reviews.
DoomDash@reddit
Came here to say this. Others also have great suggestions.
Astramael@reddit
This is a great channel. Good combination of technical and “feel”.
Alorow_Jordan@reddit
I really enjoy vin wili
boxersunset121423@reddit
Alex On Autos/Auto Buyer’s Guide. Usually tells it like it is and covers everything on the cars.
Mr_SmackIe@reddit
Mikescarinfo is literally the best and most detailed reviewer I’ve ever seen. I genuinely feel like he should get OEM money for his reviews lol
t4nkstar@reddit
He doesn't do a whole lot, but the car care nut has a dedicated review channel. Since he's also a mechanic, he goes pretty in-depth into the mechanical workings, which not many other reviewers do.
DookieMcDookface@reddit
Savagegeese… huge gap… and then everyone else.
JayDokkan98@reddit
I love throttle house they are like the closest thing to a modern version of 2000s top gear
horribadperson@reddit
producers agree with you seeing that theyll be the new host of the grand tour
imtotalyarobot@reddit
Savagegeese, Jason cammisa, throttle house, Redriven and regular car reviews for me. And the occasional Clarkson colum he does on cars.
Jellyvishal@reddit
Carcarenut
itsnottommy@reddit
Sarah-N-Tuned. She knows her shit. Cheap economy cars get the same treatment as high-performance / luxury cars. Plus her reviews are genuinely entertaining.
Afkargh@reddit
She has mentioned a few times that she would like to review base models just to see well some cars are made without all the fluff of the extra trimmings (I'm paraphrasing).
Flylo_Lotus@reddit
I like Forrest’s Auto Reviews, he does a variety of cars in different price ranges
Over_Pizza_2578@reddit
Scotty kilmer is 100% a trustworthy source of information /s
Afkargh@reddit
I'll remember that if I'm in the market for a mid-90s Celica
HalfDecentFarmer69@reddit
Nah he died.
Wbcn_1@reddit
Again?
Over_Pizza_2578@reddit
He dead?
Mike__O@reddit
As far as new cars go, I don't trust any of them. They're pretty much all marketing wank for the manufacturer. The channel gets access to demo vehicles in exchange for a generally favorable review of the car they're reviewing. Preserving that access is critical to the channel, so they'll never burn that bridge by really laying into a bad vehicle.
actual-hooman@reddit
Savagegeese, and I like thetopher
mpgomatic@reddit
OP: Which topics are the most important? Every legit reviewer takes a different path. Consistency is hugely important. Too many folks play favorites.
Back in the days when I reviewed cars, I spent a considerable amount of time testing and documenting efficiency along with all those crazy late-night 0-60 runs.
TROGDOR_X69@reddit
Westen Champlin
my favorite of the past few years
projectfarm (if he counts)
TheCarcareNut
YourAutoAdovocate
Dieselcreek if you like truckstuff. watch this one with my dad and his brother they LOVE it
TROGDOR_X69@reddit
also love engineeringExplained
but im biased he drives lots of Subaru/86 like me lol
Bfife22@reddit
Savage geese, Jason Camisa, Chris Harris, Car Care Nut, Throttle House
TealSapphire@reddit
I “trust” is such a clueless statement
Bbturdquito@reddit
Just came to comment I have no idea who any of those tech people are. But I don’t think any of the car review people are completely honest in their initial reviews. I think they have the gig they have because they hype up the cars. Usually takes some time for them to openly talk about things they like and don’t like.
Booman311@reddit
Forrest’s Auto Reviews does amazing reviews in short form.
Redsquare73@reddit
Regular car reviews- the modern day equivalent of PJ O’Rouke.
Redriven - Australia based but generally cover vehicles available worldwide. Very honest reviews of used cars and they go into detail of mechanical issues.
062876344@reddit
Redriven are underrated and give some genuine tips for used car buying.
itafunnystory@reddit
Doug
NCSUGrad2012@reddit
Car wizard
neelav9@reddit
Throttle House, Savagegeese, TFL, Topher, Edmunds, Redline Reviews are some of the few I often watch. UK channels are great as well as their brands and models are quite different to North America.
CyanShadow42@reddit
I've got to give a shout out to local guys TFL, but even if they weren't local they do really solid reviews.
Astramael@reddit
I have found that Realistick and Car Care Nut are both interesting channels.
2ndharrybhole@reddit
I pretty much stick to Straight Pipes and Demuro… I care more about entertainment than actual car info, but if you want more in-depth then you can add SavageGeese.
spas2k@reddit
Throttle house, Savagegeese, Chris Harris, Hagerty.
Sweet_Show_931@reddit
Motormouth, Redline, Throttle house, Micah Muzio
Hukthak@reddit
Savagegeese 100%
Rlchv70@reddit
Doug DeMuro
StrongStyleDragon@reddit
Straight pipes
Carbonbuildup@reddit
Motorweek retro review!
hangnutz@reddit
ben hardy does every car/truck/ suv
FarmPretty9559@reddit
It depends on what you like and where you're from. Being from the UK, I find a lot ot US car reviewers completely irrelevant to the driving situation here. I like Doug DeMuro, he likes the same sort of stuff I like but then he'll call a car that takes up 2 standard parking spaces and won't fit on my driveway a "small midsized suv" so I won't rely on his reviews for actually a buying a car.
Thedogbear2018@reddit
Redline and Raiti's rides are decent. The Topher reviews lots of classics
