Shit Brindle Brown

God I haven't heard that in a couple decades. I literally giggled when I read your post.
My parents used to use that all the time when describing some ugly brown house or car or something.

My parents only ever got me the small packs- my dream was to have the biggest pack, but it was oniy a dream.
JoyousZephyr@reddit
Have you ever gotten the 64? Or the 96??
Embarrassed-Cause250@reddit
😢No, only the 24.
JoyousZephyr@reddit
I....I'm so so sorry. You need to go and get a 64-pack and a really nice coloring book.
Embarrassed-Cause250@reddit
Aw, thank you❤️❤️❤️

Wasn’t it raw umber? Also, what even is “raw umber” 😳
leicanthrope@reddit
It’s the predecessor of burnt umber.
kimapesan@reddit
Can’t I get my umber medium well?
leicanthrope@reddit
I didn’t know the Marines were such picky eaters.
Boomstick101@reddit
It is basically dirt that is iron and manganese oxide rich with some silicates making it very dark rich brown pigment when dried. Burnt umber is the same soil just heated to remove water. It is thought to be soil taken from Umbria Italy hence the name umber also could refer to umbra meaning shadow in Italian. Sienna is a pigment created from soil taken from Siena Italy traditionally.
All pigments are anything you can dry out and crush into a fine enough powder to combine with a binder to make art tools.
SavoirFaire2Middling@reddit
Trick question, because poop is just the color of whatever crayons you've eaten.

Raw umber.
I remember trying to organize my 64s by color and getting frustrated because they wouldn't fit in full rows. I wanted it to work out to a full row of greens, then one of blues... I also had a hard time with colors like red-violet. Where in the hell should that one go???

It depends which poop you're referring to. Maize, for example, was baby-shit yellow.

Indian red
LostBetsRed@reddit
Do you suppose they have negro brown?
LostBetsRed@reddit
To downvoters: It's a quote from a 1989 Bloom County comic strip which followed another comic strip where Oliver was disappointed to find that the "flesh" colored crayon in his box of Crayolas didn't look anything like his flesh. The strip in question started off with an apology to Crayola; noting that Crayola hadn't had flesh-colored crayons since 1962. Then Opus notes that they do have "Indian red" and wonders if they have "negro brown". Chill.
RedBaronSportsCards@reddit
Bloom County also went HARD after the cosmetics industry and Mary Kay over animal/testing cruelty.
Calvin and Hobbes, and the Far Side were great but Bloom County is the GOAT.
LostBetsRed@reddit
"I'm just lying in stocks to keep me from clawing out my own eyes after they clipped them open and squirted in the oven cleaner." Yeah. Had a real impact on a teen in the 1980s.
RedBaronSportsCards@reddit
If you ran it now, the kids would freak out over the cartoons of bunnies being tortured.
GenX could watch Blazing Saddles, Monty Python, we could read Bloom County, Calvin & Hobbes, we knew who they were making fun of.

I’m still waiting for a 64 crayon pack with a built in sharpener. Never had more than 32 crayons and I’m still bitter.
BuckyGoldman@reddit
I got the 128 pack once and after a few months I left it in the sun. I dont think my parents ever bought more than the 16 or 32 after that.

They couldn't trust you with that responsibility.

I was thinking it was either Umber or Burnt Sienna. But I sort of have an advantage. My wife is an elementary art teacher and I have grandkids. So I see crayons a lot.
