Roush's Nitemare Package Makes the 2026 Ford F-150 Sit Lower and Look Meaner Than the Lobo

I’m just here to say that I’ve worked closely with the people at Roush (Jack Jr included) and it’s a genuinely nice group of people
partumvir@reddit
Id wake up smiling, too, if people bought things from me at that markup.
snubda@reddit
Very VERY little of their revenue is from the performance stuff anymore (less than 5%.) Most of their business now is in propane engine systems (busses,) EVs, entertainment (they make the rides at Disney) and outsourcing their engineering to other companies.
The only way to even justify keeping the performance stuff around is to make it expensive. It’s not mass produced so there’s no margin in it. What’s worse- an expensive product, or none at all?
partumvir@reddit
An expensive product
snubda@reddit
Sure 🙄
Dangerous-Ad9208@reddit
Should have been maybe a $5k to $10k package…$22.5k is crazzy amount of money
jrileyy229@reddit
Yes, the suspension stuff alone is 5-6k. The wheels and tires, call them 4k. The stock stuff has a couple grand of value to resell... So you're into the truck for 7k in mods before stickers and badges. 23k is bonkers... But also, it's really hard to get that truck... Even dealerships can't just go order it for you.....so there's probably some capitalizing on that aspect
cat_prophecy@reddit
$23k for a fucking drop, grille, and wheels. Who's buying this shit?
DoobieGibson@reddit
that’s only $275 more a month over 7 years
cat_prophecy@reddit
Lol that makes it sound even worse.

Gotta be boomers, that's TT/2650 money.

How about Ford makes a proper F-150 Lightning?
Tired of these ridiculous overpriced appearance package cars that are praying for whale customers and nothing less.
Seeker80@reddit
Yeah, take the Raptor and lower it like this Roush truck, keeping the ride height practical. Then tweak the engine & transmission for a more sporting feel on the street.
The Raptor had to handle small jumps. A Lightning successor wouldn't be under anything like that level of stress. This would be easy in comparison.
This isn't supposed to be a slammed street truck. Just think how the Range Rover Sport or even the Explorer ST have a road bias, but are still plenty practical.
Riverrattpei@reddit
The funny this is they originally built the Raptor because it was easier than a building a new Lightning
Seeker80@reddit
That's wild. They were really wanting to beat the 2nd gen Lightning, and that was looking difficult.
I wasn't so worried about that with my solution. Just trying to get a 'warm body' in there to fill the void, and to have the truck be more usable.
wearymicrobe@reddit
Ford does that you just buy the fp700 kit and your done for around 11k with dealer installation which keeps most of your warranty.
Finding a short bed 5.0 f150 xlt is the problem.
peakdecline@reddit
Order one? Granted I haven't done it but turn around shouldn't be that long on a custom order F-150. Dealer might require a sizable deposit because if you back out that's a hard to move truck. But otherwise... I don't really see the issue.
LOL_YOUMAD@reddit
I remember a few years ago looking for a short bed and you couldn’t find them anywhere nor would anyone order you one.
wearymicrobe@reddit
It’s a disaster looking for them. XL 5.0 they exist due to fleet, but a xlt which is what most people want are hard to find.
I used to drag race a lightning so I want to build a modern version. I have a long bed 5.0 regular cab right now to put boost on but it’s not the right platform I think.
The 7.3 xlt F250 4x4 is likely what I will build my drag truck on for a chassis. Long bed can be cut down if I want to go completely crazy but that level of fab work is not in the cards I think.

It’s sooo rare that I see one of those out around town these days. A guy in my neighborhood has one but aside from that particular truck it’s been years since I’ve seen another one on the road. Same with the RAM SRT10…
And I’m in a place where you’ll typically see everything
Those trucks must have all crashed I would have to assume
Darktrooper007@reddit
I saw one for sale at a car show in northern California about a year ago, asking $36.5k for 51k miles.
Dav_Dabz@reddit
Sitting in storage or some guy's garage
AwesomeBantha@reddit
Glad to see Roush branching out from Nissan
Dgp68824402@reddit
“Sits lower” — so now you can’t use it as a “truck”. Smart.
Drzhivago138@reddit
If anything, the 3/5 drop makes the bed more accessible.
killshelter@reddit
That’s a mighty expensive appearance package
SwarmOfRatz@reddit
How Roush, Shelby America, or Saleen sell anything at those prices is insane to me
Siguard_@reddit
Lots of divorced dudes with empty lives and big wallets.

Big interest rates. FTFY
Several-Eggplant4460@reddit
I mean, odds are it'll be a pavement princess anyway. They understand their target demographic
WetChickenLips@reddit
I mean yeah. You don't lower a truck for off road use.
Fit_Equivalent3610@reddit
lol, over 50% of MSRP on the XL.
BlessedCucumber@reddit
I need it to get my wife's son to the mall on time.
Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit
Over in the Middle East, don't GM, Ford, and Ram sell short-bed, single-cab trucks with the largest engine option available?
Never understood why they don't offer these in the US. They'd print money
Drzhivago138@reddit
Ram doesn't sell any RCSBs anymore.
LOL_YOUMAD@reddit
They do they were just basically impossible to find a few years ago when I was looking and you couldn’t find a dealer who could get one either. Not sure if they are easier to get today or not
primetimecsu@reddit
They sell those in the USA too...
It's all the rage right now. Take a regular cab short bed 5.0 and boost it to get the Mexican GTR
2ingredientexplosion@reddit
You can buy coilovers, body kit, and wheels. install yourself and save a ton of $$$
PanadaTM@reddit
You could drop it off at the best tuning shop in your city and still save 15k
Shmokesshweed@reddit
They called it Nitemare because you'll be wishing you were dreaming when they hit you with the depreciation you'll incur when you sell it.
