Thinking of buying a 2014 bmw 528i bad idea?

My recent car went to shit and I am needing a replacement that would be a nice treat to me.
The car has 184k miles and recently had a new turbo put in with a clean title.
They are asking $7k is this a fair price? Should I avoid this? Any input would be helpful!!

Terrible

Lol. I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole. And I'm a 20 year BMW master tech that gets parts almost at cost, and my own labor is free. With a shop/lift to work on. Still wouldn't buy it or own it.

This should be the end of this conversation.

Its a 12 or 13 year old car at this point that probably needs all of its major systems replaced. Slapping a new turbo on it is already a sign of what's to come. If you can do it yourself then maybe but be aware that it will need thousands in parts alone.

I think it will be a money pit, unless you are doing your own repairs.

If you are thinking "I would rather buy this $7,000 BMW that is almost old enough to babysit, and then spend \~$2,500 a year at my favorite local BMW independent repair specialist to have them handle the deferred maintenance and the repairs for the next 4 years, than buy a brand-new leftover 2025 Versa with a warranty" then sure, Go With God.
If you are thinking that this $7,000 will be the last $7,000 you spend on this almost-teenaged BMW, you had better start planning what to drive this fall, possibly this summer.

Do you want to spend tons of money on it for frequent repairs and costly maintenance? If not then don’t buy it

If you don't know much about BMW, don't buy a used one with high miles.

Nothing is more expensive than a cheap European luxury car. I'd stay far, FAR away from this one. Also, never, ever, EVER buy something "as a treat" or because you think "you deserve it".

First question is do you like money? And if so, do you like spending it?

Those can be problematic with the electric and the fan I believe. German tend to be more expensive with maintenance.
9 thousand would be the max. That’s perfect condition, no dents or interior damage, and mechanically perfect. Now the turbo and clean title does help but if you want to, get a inspection at the mechanic shop and see if there’s anything that can go wrong

First gen bmw turbo motors should generally be avoided. 184k is an impressive amount of miles to have put on one.

2014s had timing chain issues. If it hasn’t been replaced, it needs it.
