Springfield XD 40 Sub-Compact
I put 30 rounds through it when I got home, shoots great
wunder911@reddit
Where do you grip this
TheToastmaster72@reddit
All XDs have "Grip Zone." It's a very important feature... Actually an XD 9 was my first gun, they aren't really that bad. But everyone used to make fun of the grip zone marketing.
unamericano7@reddit
Sell it. Get a Glock 19 or M&P 2.0
hahncholo@reddit
Why is it so tall. It's getting into hi point territory
Select-Efficiency935@reddit
Man that's the first thing I thought, who is cloning high points, but I'm assuming it must have a built-in laser or something...... Doesn't say Ohio anywhere on that does it..... I couldn't imagine anyone doing a high point clone, and yes I know who the MFG is....just a attempt at humor but seriously imagine buying a clone of a high point that's when you know you have one tooth left and you hit rock bottom .....hey man is that a high point no dog it's a high point clone...... A low point... Literally

That’s just how XDs are, they react the prettiest or most pleasant guns but they’re solid
Threather19@reddit
Until their rollpins are MIA.
DozerLVL@reddit
Ooh, and the ejectors. Snap pew.
Superb_Extension1751@reddit
What it lacks in length it makes up for in girth.

They called me the stump back in high school

I'd expect nothing less from a juice bag

The 12 round mag has a grip extension, heres a pic with the normal 9 round mag
If you're talking about the slide, I have no answer for you lol
RabicanShiver@reddit
I love my xd40. Most reliable gun I've ever used. I put so many rounds through it back when I first got it without ever cleaning it, I'd rack the slide and it sounded like gravel, but it refused to ever jam or fail in any way. Eventually satisfied that it was not a range only gun it's been my daily carry since. Sometimes they get flak for the looks or whatever but ignore any negativity they're reliable guns. My neighbor also owns one and loves his as well.

My dad has the original when they first came out. He shoots it well and I like it too! The best gun is the one you’ll train with and carry. Congrats, pistols are an addiction😂
Wild_Peach075@reddit
YAAAAAAAYYYY! Welcome to the club! I got my mod 3 last year and I LOVE it!!
Jaspyswrld@reddit
Got that same pistol chambered in .45
TI-88caculator@reddit
I love my XD Mod.3, but I recently just switched over to the Ruger RXM. With that being said, XDs are really solid for the price and I think you made a pretty good choice.

Thanks for the chuckle

There were little to no survivors in the local empty soda can population
sportbiketed@reddit
.40s&w is an interesting choice for your first pistol
Threather19@reddit
And in a subcompact variant
FishinElectrician22@reddit (OP)
Local gun shop had a good deal for it, honestly couldnt find another pistol with a decent name for the same price
sportbiketed@reddit
Oofda. Ammo cost is going to negate any of your initial savings.
PickleNutella@reddit
I have three XD's with many rounds through them, solid pistols, no issues at all.
Have noticed when I let other people shoot them they sometimes have issues not depressing the grip safety but it's easily correctable.
If you live in a state that allows ammo to be shipped to front door, checkout Ammoseek, .40 is 230 a case
Here in California .40 is like 380-400 a case plus its double taxed
FishinElectrician22@reddit (OP)
Good advice, I'm in VA and a case of .40 would run about 400 at one of my local shops, I'll definitely look into it
Ethanchill@reddit
Cool
Lilbxrt@reddit
Idc what the haters say, gun is better than no gun. Use it right citizen 😎
Low-Landscape-4609@reddit
Great choice my friend. I'm sure you got it at a good price as well. I had one of those many years ago when they first come out. Carried the heck out of it.
High_Anxiety_1984@reddit
I have the full size .45acp version of th same handgun. Not my favorite, but I like it. It has more sentimental value more than anything. It was my late father's handgun I inherited after his passing last summer.
BlitzRyu@reddit
Holy crap he bought the blacktail
LegitimateKangaroo99@reddit
Did you smell it, and rub it, like a genie’s bottle lol. I’m being serious though.
Lawrence_skywalker@reddit
Subcompact in .40 is a choice.
sasquatchxlit@reddit
Least you got trigger discipline, nice.
FishinElectrician22@reddit (OP)
Not my first gun lol, just my first pistol, just turned 21 last month
thedudeintx82@reddit
I've got that same gun. Load that sucker up with some Federal HSTs and you'll be in business.
Ok_Display7459@reddit
HST SUPREMACY
PictureElegant3033@reddit
Good choice. I have one myself.
maxgaap@reddit
Not everyone's favorite, but it is a great gun. If you plan on changing the sights make sure you have a dedicated sight pushing tool, don't try and do it with a punch and hammer. Those things are in there tight.
Judoka229@reddit
I had an XD9 mod 2 for a long time but recently switched to the Glock 19 instead. I did enjoy my XD but I think the Glock is a better choice.
saucegod@reddit
Heavy is good, heavy is reliable…..
Fat-Cat-2449@reddit
My dad carried this for years. The grip safety always pinched the webbing of my thumb. It’s a fun pistol to shoot tho, nice score 👍
Perfect_Ask1561@reddit
Very nice, I love XD’s. One dayI want a 40 or a 10mm !!
