What to do if I see my e bike getting stolen?

I live in the algarve in portugal and had my e-bike stolen last October because I had a crappy wire lock on it. We contacted the police but they did absolutely nothing as expected. After a while I decided to get a new bike (same one) but this time with a ABUS BORDO 6500 lock and another ABUS chain lock as well as a brake disc alarm and finally 2 AirTags secretly placed around the bike with the speakers removed. Hopefully all this will prevent the bike from getting stolen but on the off chance I see someone stealing my bike what do I do I mean I could risk fighting them but they might have a weapon só I don’t know please help thank you

I would use a lightweight cover to disguise my bike. Bike thieves have to see it and assess the value/risk before deciding to steal it.

A plain sand/brown colour polyester cover blends in and stops thieves from being so attracted to a bike, when other bikes are more visible.

You can lock through side slits in some of them. I use a grey/green one in the UK but sand would probably blend in better in the Algarve.

If you see someone stealing your bike, you do not need to worry about fighting them. Thieves, more often than not, are a cowardly bunch.

Reading bike theft registration sites, unfortunately there is a surprisingly high number of bikes stolen from controlled access parking areas, bike only areas for apartments and garages.

I take the battery off mine or disconnect it internally so they can’t just turn it on and ride off and usually straight pedaling is a huge pain. I use multiple locks and some random Velcro straps in inconspicuous places to stop the wheels from turning. Basically making it a pain on the as to take. But I also carry a knife worse comes to worse I can flatten the tire I’m not a fighter but I’m not little so I’ll sit in a person while I call the police

I pushed a guy riding my bike away after he cut my cheap wire lock. He flew one way. The bike went another way We squared up to fight and he walked away saying he didn’t know it was my bike.

Yeah, he was a POS. He was riding a POS that he left in the parking lot to steal my newly put together kit e-bike. His teeth were all jacked so when I thought about punching him in the mouth, I had second thoughts and we just went separate ways.

Yeah, it was in front of a grocery store so all people saw was me push a guy off a bike. I started yelling BIKE THIEF after he hit the ground. Then I saw his craftsman compound action diagonal pliers that were on the ground. I grabbed the pliers and stole from the thief!

Call the cops immediately before u approach them. Even if u don't think cops care or will arrive in time, u have to make it look like backup is on the way. Show them you're on the phone with cops.

Thieves will usually not try to go thru with it if the owner catches them in the act. U gotta hope this is the case. That's why u gotta make a move or else u throwing money down the drain if u do nothing.
