"I love you, I'm sorry." She says, as her grin presses the tears out of her eyes down her rose-cheeks. You smile, the way only a human who feels seen can.
Then the screen fades to black, and all you can see in it is your own reflection, in a dark room. Alone.
I'll be honest: On my first playthrough I stumbled into the Judy romance and it really got to me. When she transformed from the vibrant character into the cardboard cutout it was a bummer.
I was struck with the unfortunate burst of sadness when Judy turned from a vibrant character into a cardboard cutout, I'd heard they'd upgraded it though.
Romance options are alright so long as you do "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" exactly once and don’t take so long to finish the game it feels like the character doesn’t care for sending you messages anymore
Man imagine every rpg game had mods like Skyrim, I remember downloading almost 400 mods and doing custom compability patches lol. It still ran great with stable 60 fps too.

What's the alternative really? They can't just give endless date quests. Any good examples?

Do people actually romance characters in video games for anything than the achievements?

It happens in video games too.

Cyberpunk definitely suffered from this. Panam was amazing until the end of the story line.
aghastamok@reddit
Didn't they expand on that a lot? They have a bunch of different interactions?
Penorl0rd4@reddit
Nah there’s like 3 lines of dialogue and one or two unique things you can do depending on the apartment/flat you own and that’s it
