new low for me.
pm_me_ur_demotape@reddit
Why do they advertise fuel card like a benefit?
Ornery_Ads@reddit
Some companies get discounted fuel across the board and allow you to use the company fuel card in your personal vehicle to get that same discount for yourself.
It just seems ridiculous to me.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Seems like “The Company Store” to mean. Can I get a cantaloupe and some boots there too? 🤣
Dull_Conflict7200@reddit
That 15-18 an hour is in CDL Bucks
W1D0WM4K3R@reddit
🎶Saint Peter, don't you call me, 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store🎶
Itsalmostover71@reddit
🤣
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
With a benefit “fuel card” at that pay, I better be able to use it for my personal shit!
Itsalmostover71@reddit
And his shit, and her shit and their shit too! 🤣
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
Lmao you already know how it gets 😂
Itsalmostover71@reddit
I know a thing or 2, one could say 🤣
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
Lol first thing that stuck with me
Crowhop11@reddit
I would guess it’s because it’s letting you know they give you a fuel card to fuel up at normal stations. I saw a job once that would’ve required you to swing by their terminals to fuel up because they didn’t give you a fuel card, seems like it would’ve been crazy annoying.
EatLard@reddit
“Hey, at least you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck on fuel and then wait on payroll to process your expense report to actually get paid. Come work for us.”
Rare_Indication_3811@reddit
came here just to say that
geardownson@reddit
Right? Omg! I don't have to pay for the fuel while delivering your cargo at 15 bucks an hour!? Sign me up!
Tru3insanity@reddit
What do you wanna bet its 1099 too?
Battlejesus@reddit
Right? Like is it standard to make company drivers pay for fuel? Or is this the whole reason fleet accounts exist?
SunriseTrades@reddit
Just like it's jobs offering to pay 40 a hour on indeed anomalies exist on both end. If you dont like what you see, move on.
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Show me $40/hr trucking job on indeed in dallas. I'll quit my job right now.
Wheres_Jay@reddit
That won't get you far at all in the metroplex.
NotGoing2EndWell@reddit
I just posted on their Facebook post of the job:
"Pay is $15 to $18 per hoiur, which they are cleverly omitting from this post! YOU CAN MAKE MORE MONEY AT WALMART OR MCDONALDS AND WILL GET BENEFITS AT THOSE PLACES."
I'm not a trucker, but I'm fucking pissed! Truckers need to be making good money for their work.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Be mad all ya want, when you a rookie just back’in it in is a win. As my good friend once said “Don’t get cocky kid! We ain’t out of this yet!” H. Solo Star Wars.
New drivers don’t make all that much. 2 reasons. 1 they New. 2 they gonna break shit. Just wait n see. 🤣 costs a lot to insure a new driver. Damm things are big and long!
Neat-Big8950@reddit
It's only going to get worse as the OPs title suggests. That's why this is a dying industry. It's why this industry loves illegal immigrants because they can extort them under the threat of deportation and force them to work for this. Or maybe find someone on welfare trying to meet their EBT work requirements.
second_chances_26@reddit
Thank you for this
Massive_Bullfrog8663@reddit
Where's Jimmy Hoffa when you need him...
B-buckleboots@reddit
Teamsters are still around and its definitely worth it. Everyone should be in the union.
Hopeful-Weakness5119@reddit
Bullshit teamsters sold you out dude teamsters are trump bitches
B-buckleboots@reddit
Idk about all that nonsense. I'd bet money my paycheck with the union looks better than yours though. And how about a pension? Do you get one? Because i do..
Caveman23r@reddit
While I agree the union is bitches, they are definitely democrats because only dems would try to block something that would benefit everyone and not just themselves
theboywthagreenscarf@reddit
Yea like republicans don’t do this with their tax cuts. Tax cuts for the poor for the four next years! Tax cuts for the rich never ending! And the suckers fall for it every time. Now that I’m 1099 and part of a s corp, trumps tax laws actually help me. But it feels fucked up knowing that majority of people don’t benefit. If anything it hurts them because eventually they’ll be picking up the slack on the lost tax revenue. If you make less than a half a mil a year and you’re a republican, you’re a stooge.
RedlineM5@reddit
Don't bother with the facts. They all think they will be billionaires alongside Trump soon at the next diddler party once the policies help them.
EatLard@reddit
I heard he was under Giants Stadium.
Rogerdodgerbilly@reddit
Get paid $18 an hour and I get to pay union dues too weeee
MR_6OUIJA6BOARD6@reddit
Under Giants stadium, duh.
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
Under Giant Stadium
EatLard@reddit
Hell, FedEx and UPS will provide health insurance for chucking boxes for ~$21/hr. And you don’t even have to interact with the general public.
NightAesthetic@reddit
I'm an Amazon driver and i get paid $22 this is crazy
maddpsyintyst@reddit
I see desperate folks looking for desperate folks, and I would nopety-nope right out of that shit.
I definitely make a lot more than that doing deliveries for an electrical supplier, with no current CDL. I'm also home every night, with no option for my employer to make it otherwise. I also live in an area in which wages are low relative to the rest of the country. I also also don't own the truck(s) that I drive, so I don't pay for their maintenance. Best of all, I drive for an ESOP, and if you know, you know.
I'm not bragging. I'm just saying, hold out for the good ones while you can.
bears_Chivas@reddit
This is the reason why they cried "driver shortage"
nortyflatz@reddit
What's #2 fuel running in Tex/Ok now?
It's $7.75 (or more) here.
Can't wait until Winter with home heating oil at this price.
There's gonna be a lot of cold people this Winter...
On the plus side, 8 dollar fuel will put a stop to those a-holes that "roll coal." Actually, they're "rolling diesel" but that doesn't rhyme.
DaSaw@reddit
What are local rents like?
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
$1,400/month for a 1 bed room in an alright area.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
Got a 3 bed 2 bath with million dollar Mountain View’s here for that cost.
Delicious-Bet-2694@reddit
Whats the for? Pizza delivery
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
This role involves delivering sod/grass on flatbed trucks throughout the DFW area.
We're looking for someone dependable, hardworking, and not afraid to get their hands dirty - this is a hands-on position that includes loading, unloading, and securing materials in all weather conditions.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
“Pack Sand & Kick Rocks! Y’all lost your ever loving minds, $15.00 an hr? You crazy.” Is how I’d reply.
Unique_Arm435@reddit
That's a no from me, dawg!
vault151@reddit
I’m pretty sure pizza delivery guys make more than this.
Itsalmostover71@reddit
When there’s a low means there will be a high, just depends on your POA aka Plan Of Attack. Gotta have a plan, can’t just be out here floating along, get picked off that way.
Aint no shame in earning a paycheck, just stings by how little it is. I’ve been poor most of my life n doing well now, still broke, money just goes to different hands is all.
second_chances_26@reddit
For anyone that lives in Texas I’m sorry but your state is straight up trash for advertising work that pay dog sh!t …. I live in overpriced California, they may not pay the best but they pay nonetheless, and the lower end local guys are making 30-35 to start. Hazmat guys are making 38-45 to start depending on cargo. Texas is shit.
ahowls@reddit
I see 18 hr cdl jobs everywhere in my area.. mostly containers. Absolute joke
second_chances_26@reddit
For $18 an hour I wouldn’t even walk near a truck
Gouge61496@reddit
$18hr is in no way worth the risks drivers take 😂 its so ridiculously low Im kinda offended
second_chances_26@reddit
This is true about Texas. They don’t pay shit out there for class A guys. The most I saw was like $24 an hour for a hazmat endorsement job
JustinTime4242@reddit
My first LTL job 13 years ago started at $19 an hour
Wtf has happened to this industry
NoHomoAmphibian@reddit
People will take the jobs. Too many people willing to take them. Low barrier to entry.
synocrat@reddit
Not just this industry, rich people pick who you get to vote for, then they do what the rich fucks want. Federal minimum wage was raised to $7.25 in 2009. CEOs make like 600 times what a median salary in the company gets like they're some magical genius. Healthcare is a for profit business coupled with for profit insurance. The top tax tier rate used to be over 90%.
DennisReynoldsGG@reddit
And when nobody takes it the “trucker shortage” will be blamed by trucking companies.
raddrobb67@reddit
I just looked this up. In the Dallas area crew members at McDonald's start at 13.86 an hour. I'd rather work there.
spartanantler@reddit
Essentially what I’m making in the Air Force as a Jet Mechanic right now lol
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Come back to me when you get a job at Lockheed Martin
spartanantler@reddit
Lol I’ve had my fill of aircraft
NFLTG_71@reddit
Oh, in Memphis, this is almost at the top of the tier for trucking jobs.
Chingasupinchemadre@reddit
With that “fuel card” benefit I better be able to use it for my personal pick up, and personal shit
robexib@reddit
It's always the employers who pay the least who scream the hardest about no one wanting to work anymore. The obscenely low pay says enough to avoid the bastard.
wiebols@reddit
In buffalo ny - first student (school bus company) is offering 31$ a hour!!!
DaSaw@reddit
Which is probably way too much for New York, particularly considering it's maybe 25 hr/week, broken up into two segments, with the stipulation that "this is your primary job". Not a bad gig if you're semi-retired or a secondary income earner, but not something to live on.
John9250@reddit
You’d think in a city area it’d pay more. I saw one down in San Antonio a few years ago advertising $29 an hour and “the easiest trucking job” because they said you’d just be bumping docks all day. But I don’t live in San Antonio lol. I live in Texarkana and that’s about average for local positions here
TruckinTuba@reddit
I make $20/hr more than that and its low....
Always_Shifting_4459@reddit
To hell with that 🤣 got a flyer other day when I stopped at Chick-fil-A in Ardmore OK. Hiring 17.50-20/hr and be home every night with Sundays off too
11hammer@reddit
Apply, interview, and when they offer 18$ say “oh I thought that was a type-o. No.” And counter it with at least double.
xEyelessOnex@reddit
That is an insult. Down here, there were giving $16 an hour for that.
Massive_Bullfrog8663@reddit
Here in San Jose, kids make $20/hr at freaking McDonald's...
EatLard@reddit
They make about the same at some fast food jobs in South Dakota, which goes a lot farther.
stakaj@reddit
With pay that low, they're intentionally looking immigrants to underpay. No American would accept that.
Derrik359@reddit
Everything’s bigger in Texas, except paycheck, those are some of the smallest around..
itstimetochewass@reddit
We're the land of the $12-$14/ hr jobs.
Shyjuan@reddit
i mean with how Texans brag about how the cost of living is significantly cheaper than most of the nation I'd say this wage is livable 🤷♂️
Classic-Box-3919@reddit
That wage is trash basically anywhere nowadays. Low cost of living doesnt seem to exist anymore unless maybe ur in a below 10k population town in the middle of nowhere
Glad_Inspection_2702@reddit
Facts
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Dallas is one of the most expensive cities to live in, this shit is trash. As for most local job offers.. they're in the $25/hr range.
Unhappy-River6306@reddit
They say having a fuel card is one of the perks, makes you wonder if they made their drivers pay for fuel previously
fire_lord_flowzai@reddit
I’m not even a trucker and this pisses me off…
PathofEnlightment@reddit
Either a joke or they're for real thinking they're that smart that an idiot will actually apply
Interesting-Slip-669@reddit
I’ve been driving forever (65yo) This is a very bad sign for us and not just this one thing. It’s not an outlier. It’s feels like it’s caving in.
FlatbedtruckingCA@reddit
Good opportunity to troll and waste their time with applications till they are flooded with people who ghost them..
manning55@reddit
You can wash dishes for more, thats crazy a truck driver can get paid so little
ShoddySpace5680@reddit
This is hopefully for entry level like 6 months of experience and bounce
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience (insurance requirement)
Experience with flatbed trucks
Ability to operate a forklift (or willing to learn quickly)
Interesting-Spend965@reddit
I wouldn’t get out of bed for anything under $30+ these days with the cost of living. They can go fuck themselves
FWD_to_twin_turbo@reddit
About par for TX, i'm convinced it's one of the worst states to be a truck driver in both pay and driving environment.
Could pay me $18 to drive around Lewisville in my personal vehicle much less a semi.
Alarming_Star_6549@reddit
I moved to Texas and few years ago doing the same job but with a different company, I thought the company would pay similar to what I was making back east in NC. The money ended up being shit, promised one thing got another. I looked for other opportunities but the pay was crap all over the state. I moved back to NC. Much happier and I'm not melting year round.
CrashingTiger@reddit
lol. Anyone who takes that job is a sucker.
Fun-Chipmunk7868@reddit
Bro Love’s pays better than that to their cashiers
BoringJuiceBox@reddit
Has to be a joke… I make $19 non CDL and am barely scraping by. It all goes to bills and food.
Elite_Fighter@reddit
That's a solid sleeper pay rate
Adzoom@reddit
That's too low
stevenmacarthur@reddit
I love the "15 minute commute" bit: how da fuq you know where I live?
Practical_Prole@reddit
Indeed shows you commute times if you put in your home address when searching for jobs. I found it helpful as I don’t much want to drive an hour to and from my 12-13hr a day job.
TemporaryOk9310@reddit
Can I use the fuel card on my car?
NectarineAny4897@reddit
My 38 gallon Diesel tank in my pickup asked the same question…
TemporaryOk9310@reddit
Perks a perk right
NectarineAny4897@reddit
They are offering it as a part of the perks, right?
neptune810@reddit
I get 30$ an hour and live in Ohio lol I couldn’t imagine making that much wage here let alone a higher cost of living state like Texas
Meaty_stick@reddit
I have no idea how people survive on <20$
imcjoey13@reddit
Maybe if they added a grocery food card.
DiscussionFine6197@reddit
Might as well sling coffee and earn some tips.
Orikshekor@reddit
You can make more money packing boxes in a shipping department lmao
BeenThruIt@reddit
I made this much as a laborer in the last millennium, ffs.
TonyTrucking@reddit
Report them
JimBobPaul@reddit
For what?
I'm all for name and shame, but they're not doing anything but making sure they only get shit drivers. Nothing report worthy.
KriptoYeti@reddit
That comes to 50 ish cents per mile. Count the hours you work.
Immediate-Fly-7876@reddit
The sad part is someone will take it and that’s the problem.
Groundbreaking-Emu64@reddit
Wow when you find a good job keep it. I see stuff like this and can’t believe it. 15-18 what is this a hs job ?
Mindless_Library22@reddit
That’s gross 🤮
Available_Quote_5567@reddit
Wow. I started at $20 for a home daily job more than 10 years ago.
