“Long Lover Lane” in Halifax
Successful-Ad-367@reddit
Always makes me chuckle driving through.
gerrineer@reddit
Just outside Bristol?
Successful-Ad-367@reddit
Yeah on the way to tetbury
nemmalur@reddit
Belle_TainSummer@reddit
You ever been to Kilmarnock?
They have institutional problems.
CulturedClub@reddit
Problem or party?
b135702@reddit
A Cardiff classic.
northyj0e@reddit
I'm Yeadon, between Leeds and Bradford, there's a street called "Football". Not Football Street, Football Place, or Football Avenue, just "Football".
danger0usd1sc0@reddit
Very happy to see the people at number 10 have ONE NIL as their house number :)
weierstrab2pi@reddit
Manchester has a street just called 'Scotland'
Shawn_The_Sheep777@reddit
danger0usd1sc0@reddit
Just looked this up on Google maps and was interested to see that there is a road called "Pavement" there, too.
rosywillow@reddit
There’s a road near me called Bents Lane. The council are fighting a running battle with local teenagers who paint out the bottom loop of the B and the crossbar of the t.
BarryIslandIdiot@reddit
I grew up in a small village with 'Cock' at the beginning of the name. In my 40 plus years of life i have only ever seen 'Suck my' written on it once. I'm both surprised and a little disappointed.
Andrew_Culture@reddit
My goodness. This took me far too long to figure out. It took me less time to figure out why someone keeps painting white paint over the bottom loop of the B on the sign for Bucks Close near me.
louiselovatic@reddit
I can’t figure this one out
Shn_Wttn@reddit
Penis… It’s Penis!
louiselovatic@reddit
No I can’t figure out Andrew_Culture’s one
rosywillow@reddit
Paint out the bottom loop of the B and also the outer edge of the top loop.
Andrew_Culture@reddit
oh yeah, I kinda forgot that crucial part, sorry
Shn_Wttn@reddit
Oh I see… Maybe Fucks?
EldritchSanta@reddit
Dry_Database2198@reddit
This is Boaty McBoatface level good. Reminds me that the Liverpool Uni telephone extension for the Anglican Chaplaincy was 6666.
drunken-acolyte@reddit
That is entirely a new estate. They knew what they were doing when they called it that.
EldritchSanta@reddit
Oh totally, but someone boring and officious could have shut it down. But they didn't, and the world is a tiny bit better for it.
drunken-acolyte@reddit
South Yorkshire town planners can be quite cool. There's a council estate in Doncaster where, rather than all the streets being named after some stuffy worthies from local politics as they usually are, the streets were all named after football stadia.
rocketscientology@reddit
And when they put the police station there!
northyj0e@reddit
Absolutely gutting that that street isn't in Norwich:
Where are you?
Letsby Avenue.
JerronVrayl@reddit
In Shepshed, Leicestershire
SUMMATMAN@reddit
Wow Google really want to ram it in
MissingLink101@reddit
I like this road near QPR's ground that seems like a warning to criminals
LagerBoi@reddit
In Norwich we have St Gregory's Back Alley
hamstertoybox@reddit
There’s a Johnny Ball Lane in Bristol.
CrazyPlatypusLady@reddit
AKA Grindr?
Belle_TainSummer@reddit
This is a real place:
In Moffat, Scotland.
_gothick@reddit
The council really needs to put up a NO BALL GAMES ALLOWED sign right next to that.
EndShot3112@reddit
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
rybnickifull@reddit
Back Turner St near Shudehill in Manchester lingers with me.
neilm1000@reddit
It's the passage at the back of Turner Street. Ditto Back Piccadilly.
rybnickifull@reddit
Yes, this doesn't change it being funny
Desperate_Land_8975@reddit
Bantabury97@reddit
Fella I go to do militaria business with on occasion in Norfolk has his shop on Slutshole Lane. Gets a tickle out of me every time.
TheGnomeSecretary@reddit
You tickle him? Not very business like.
Bantabury97@reddit
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Islaya00@reddit
Have no idea how the AskUK sub ended up on my home feed but here I am. As a comic book and specifically Deadpool fan this intersection a few blocks away from my house has always given me a kick.
dazzumz@reddit
There are quite a few roads in the UK named after (former) Prince Andrew to some now very disgruntled residents, but one sign was posted on Reddit not long ago with the caption "that's not a street name, that's a warning".
notfromanywhere234@reddit
Close your doors, cause ...
stellarium_void@reddit
😭🤣
notfromanywhere234@reddit
I really love the UK for such small everyday life quirks, it's way more chaotic than the US and the history often shows-up when and where least expected!!!

I always wanted to steal this when I lived in Plymouth

Judith Butts Gardens in Shrewsbury. Also, Twatling Road in Barnt Green.
musicallymotivated93@reddit
ribenarockstar@reddit
A friend of mine grew up on this road! Always made me chuckle
musicallymotivated93@reddit
I used to play darts with/against a woman that lived up there whose maiden name was Seaman. I don't think she completed the trinity by living at number 69 though.
ribenarockstar@reddit
There And Back Again Lane in Bristol- it’s a dead end and a Tolkien joke
Oohoureli@reddit
Nearby there’s some sheltered accommodation for elderly people in St Peter’s Close.
ribenarockstar@reddit
There’s one in my hometown called Bury Lodge which seems cruel
Ludrin@reddit
violetliberty@reddit
I went to school in a village with a Bell End!
neilm1000@reddit
I used to work for the company that owned the Bell at Bell End. We all thought it was hilarious.

Not right in my town, but I drove
past this spot yesterday and it tickled me immensely.
CarpeCyprinidae@reddit
Don't live there now and havent in over 20 years, but Hemel Hempstead has both Uranus Road and Alldicks Road. The sign for the latter sometimes gets a symbolic representation added....
islandhopper37@reddit
Gravesend in North Kent has a Thong Lane, which leads to the village of the same name.
Thong used to be signposted from the A2, but I think that exit was closed off when the A2 was realigned.
8bitPete@reddit
originallyale@reddit
This should be in r/Epstein 🥲
kimba-the-tabby-lion@reddit
Took me a couple of minutes to get this photo just right....

Well done and well worth the effort! Having lived under Concorde’s deafening departures for several years, this one really resonates with me.
Cariad_rae@reddit
We moved to Twickenham from North Wales and I took our Neopolitan Mastiff to the shop across the road, I tied him to a bin and when Concorde went off he got so scared he dragged the bin home!
8cuban@reddit
😂
FairyGodmothersUnion@reddit
Certainly is!
MelodicAd2213@reddit

I used to take a shortcut through Milk Maid’s Passage just next to St James Palace.

thesteelmaker@reddit
Ladies Hole Point
Bullet4MyEnemy@reddit
Sheffield has a “Letsby Avenue” where there’s a police station.
Gaping_Whole_@reddit
Not so much a double entendre, but in Brum we have “Needless Alley”
migo_81@reddit
This used to be near where I grew up but the residents got it changed
TwistedSis27@reddit
There's Cumlodden Avenue in my city, not too far from Succoth Avenue 😂
This one is less funny but still good, there's Cuddy Lane too. "Cuddy" is Scots slang for a stupid person or a donkey so it's basically "Stupid Person Lane" 😭
PKblaze@reddit
I don't think I'd want that street to tickle me
FabulousEnglishman@reddit
I used to live near Three Cocks Lane
Which sounds like a great Saturday night

xander012@reddit
Another classic in my area is Pope's grove
cococats@reddit
IpromithiusI@reddit
The street opposite work is called Cockcharme Gapp.
rocketscientology@reddit
Is that what they’re calling a Prince Albert these days?
neilm1000@reddit
I've been there! It's by Warke Flatt which always strikes me as the sort of name an American senator might have. Any idea why an industrial estate has such unusual names?
IpromithiusI@reddit
Small world 😂 no idea unfortunately, bloody stupid layout though, 1 road in and out, pain in the arse if you don't leave work a bit earlier than 5!
CalmdownpleaseII@reddit
St Mary’s Butts in Reading. I figure her butt must have been something to behold to have a street named after it.
DoctorOctagonapus@reddit
So I looked up where this name came from, apparently it comes from an archery butt that used to be near the church. The butt went, but the church and street name survive.
Broad Street Mall also used to be named the Butts Centre, and my dad still calls it that.
MiddleAgedFella@reddit
Not a street, but a railway underpass in Castleford, West Yorkshire.
During regeneration the original Tickle Cock bridge was filled in and a new larger one built around 10 foot away. The council renamed it, or attempted to rename it ‘Tittle Cott’
Local uproar saw them have it reverted back to Tickle Cock
MelodicAd2213@reddit
There’s a Ticklecock fair in Conisburgh and Denaby. NSFF
8cuban@reddit
Not UK but there’s an airport in Columbus, Ohio on “Godown Lane”. For whatever reason I think I was the only one who got the irony.
8cuban@reddit
Road heading out of Norwich - “Six Mile Bottom”. Makes sense when you realize it’s because it’s 6 miles to the next town.
sneakylithops@reddit
IKEA and Costco in Edinburgh are on a road named Costkea Way
DoctorOctagonapus@reddit
In Airdrie there used to be an Italian restaurant behind an Aldi, called Bacchialdi's.

ben_jamin_h@reddit
Bell End, connecting to Mincing Lane
Birmingham
shiny_things71@reddit
Not British but Australian, and too good to not share: Titwobble Lane. It is a dirt road, named by its first residents and yes is it very bumpy. The street sign has been wrapped in barbed wire for years as it was getting stolen a lot.
beeurd@reddit
In Birmingham city centre
chemo92@reddit
Theres an alley near me that has a sign saying 'No. 2 passage '
I assume it's some sort of infrastructure thing but gives me a giggle every time I walk past it.
