Bi/Pan Xennials: why is it always The Mummy but never the Hungry Eyes montage in Dirty Dancing when Baby and Penny are dancing and Johnny is watching?

Because that was definitely the one for me.
Juliet_1982@reddit
Another one… Clueless. I had it bad for Alicia Silverstone AND Paul Rudd. They were both hot.
Milly_Hagen@reddit
Paul Rudd is still hot
Moon_Noodle@reddit
It was David Bowie for me. Yes, Labyrinth, but also just David Bowie in general.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
Selma Hayek in Desperado.
Juliet_1982@reddit
Dude. As a girl, for me, it was Cruel Intentions. I wanted everyone in that movie even though they were all so toxic. It was very confusing.
Oh and Catherine Zeta Jones in Entrapment. OMG she was hot.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
YES
Ishvale@reddit
Have you seen Ryan Phillippe lately? Let's just say, bro aged well
Juliet_1982@reddit
Damn. He HAS aged well. He is still hot.
PerplexedLandOtter@reddit
Playing By Heart - Ryan with blue hair, Angelina Jolie, and Gillian Anderson for an extra treat. That movie had me in its grip.
Ishvale@reddit
I actually like older him more
Possible-Jerk0138@reddit
What about Wild Things??
Plutoniumburrito@reddit
I woulda been the super toxic one banging all of them on the sly and playing innocent, all while making all of them obsessed with me. Yes, I was terrible back then, haha.
BlueGiant601@reddit
You know you'd have thought that the Goblin King and his codpiece would have helped me figure some things out back in the day.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
And not Frank Furter? Cause it was absolutely Tim Curry that had me questioning my sexuality, followed very closely by Fairuza Balk in The Craft
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
David Bowie was absolutely the first guy I ever had a crush on.
Honest_Tutor1451@reddit
Same. I’m a lesbian but continued my Bowie crush.
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
Never ever went away. Dream man.
elliemff@reddit (OP)
It’s okay. I finally accepted my pan-ness a few years ago, but during a Dirty Dancing rewatch today I was like “ohhhhhh that’s why this was my favorite part”.
youshantnome@reddit
I still think about their outfits. I was a kid when dirty dancing came out and I didn’t know whether I wanted to be Penny or be with Penny.
Pinkkorn69@reddit
I personally hated Dirty Dancing... and if I'm going to probably get hated on Grease too lol neither movie interested me at all. And as much as I loved Patrick Swayze I thought Johnny was gross. The mummy was mine because every single person outside the warden was beautiful in my eyes even Johnathan lol
cottoncandymandy@reddit
Dirty dancing was my whole sexual awaking and life long obsession with championing abortion rights.
akerasi@reddit
Bowie in Labyrinth. I know it's common, but that makes it no less true. Honestly, one of the few media representations that... affected me at all.
violetmarie11@reddit
Ra in Stargate was my eye opener. I was 12 and thought they were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, couldn't tell if they were male or female and decided I didn't care.
Alternative-Wish-441@reddit
I remember not being sure if the actor was a man or woman but thinking they were so beautiful it didn’t matter. Ra was stunning.
TwilightStranger@reddit
Jaye Davidson played Ra in the first movie. Made his film debut in The Crying Game as Dil, the transgender femme fatale, two years earlier.
Kfaircloth41@reddit
Thank you! Are you a woman? Idk but you're hot. Wait. Maybe that's a guy. Still hot. Did not care. I could have watched him sit on his throne for hours lol.
Shugoseru@reddit
Same actor was in The Crying Game. And the scene in it definitely left me a little confused
wuhkay@reddit
Same
pettyvillainy@reddit
For me it was Point Break.
sapient_pearwood_@reddit
Mine was Renee O'Connor on Xena. ok I guess it was pretty much everyone on Xena
Texas_Kimchi@reddit
LOL me and my friend were just debating Gabby vs Xena! I'm team Gabby all the way!
AsparagusOverall8454@reddit
The scene in dusk before dawn. When she dances with the snake.
lellywest@reddit
I’d say Romeo + Juliet was doing a lot of heavy lifting in this category.
John Leguizamo = glorious
Harold Perrineau = outstanding
DiCaprio = pretty if that’s your thing
Paul Rudd = adorbs
Clare Danes = stunning (and yes there are too few women in this story but Danes is positively radiant so how could anyone else compare, and Perrineau looks at least as good in a dress)
Imaginary_Attempt_82@reddit
Ok forgot that Harold Perrineau was in this- I haven’t seen it since it was new! I mostly know him from From lol
lellywest@reddit
He’s unforgettable, though! As a young person, this was the first time I saw drag in a mainstream, blockbuster movie that wasn’t fringe like Priscilla QotD. (I know To Wong Foo was earlier but I didn’t see that.) And he did it with facial hair! It wasn’t gender conforming, it was gender bending. Such a spectacular performance.
Camandchat@reddit
That is my favorite version of Leo. His hair, the clothes, the romance.
Ill-Description8517@reddit
Hackers. 100% Hackers
Nipplasia2@reddit
Foxfire was even better and gay af without any gay
Ill-Description8517@reddit
It was definitely in the rotation
Kinetic_Silverwolf@reddit
I'm pretty certain by the time I saw "Dirty Dancing" for the first time I'd already developed a crush on half the cast of "Highlander: The Series", sorry.
OutOfEffs@reddit
It was Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis in Pump Up the Volume for me.
i_nobes_what_i_nobes@reddit
Yeeeessssss
orejo@reddit
Same!
hi984390@reddit
It was the white dress in the rocketeer that got me 😅whew.
YESmynameisYes@reddit
I wish you were talking about Arnold Vosloo in The Mummy, but he's only himself for scant minutes so I can see why regular ole Brendan Fraser caught everyone's eye. Still.
akm1111@reddit
Except for Vinnie, everyone in that movie series was great.
ChaoticForkingGood@reddit
Door_in_Mirror@reddit
Because we were little kids when dirty dancing came out and horny teen when the mummy did.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
I was an adult when the mummy came out and just hitting puberty with dirty dancing.
Kindly_Bluebird_3741@reddit
Because we mostly weren't really old enough to feel tingly downstairs for Dirty Dancing, the mummy also had an adventurer story, thus more of us watched.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
Mmm speak for yourself. It was the slumber party movie for me and my friends.
Alternative-Wish-441@reddit
I wore out my parents’ VHS copy when I was 12.
QueenInYellowLace@reddit
Speak for yourself! Penny and Baby were INSPIRATIONAL for me.
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Some of us were uh... early risers.
AmputeeHandModel@reddit
What the FUCK are you talking about??
sunkistandsudafed3@reddit
I dont understand your question?
Dorkinfo@reddit
I thought all the dancing scenes in Dirty Dancing were cheesy. And it is definitely on the Gen X side of the line, I was three when it came out. I watched it when I was probably 13.
My movie was 10 Things I Hate About You. JGL and Heath Ledger but also Julia Stiles and Larisa Olenik.
Foreign_Donkey463@reddit
Idk the Mask of Zorro was a close second to the Mummy imo
Ishvale@reddit
I present to you Scream. Yea, folks liked Skeet and Neve, but I I would like to allow for Matthew. And that nerdy guy. And Neve's friend, look, you get it, right?
16Shells@reddit
Trash from Return of the Living Dead definitely broke something in me. i saw that way too young.
EBMille4@reddit
Xfiles got me in 93

PMmeHappyStraponPics@reddit
I, uhh, still have some things to figure out, I think ...
ponchoacademy@reddit
Okay Im feeling like the super odd one out... Dirty Dancing means absolutely nothing to me lol And I thought Brandon was hot AF in the Mummy but, thats cause hes hot AF. But my, hol' up moment was Tilda Swinton.
Id never even seen a movie with her in it...just from I guess movie trailers and I saw posters maybe, I have no idea but I was just like... 🤔 whenever I saw her. Then I saw Orlando and yeah. Yeeeeaaahhh... Zero confusion, I was all in lol
MossGobbo@reddit
Honestly because it was my step-monster's favorite movie it put me off of that film forever. (Note I'm not saying anything about the quality, just that trauma association makes me not want to watch it.)
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Fair. Just want to offer you this:
"You deserve to be loved, and to feel loved, just for being you." --Mr Rogers mashup with my meditation teacher
That does NOT mean anyone is obliged to endanger themselves or otherwise subject themselves to less than equitable treatment in order to give love to or receive love from others.
sjd208@reddit
I read that as Hangry eyes and wondered which bizarre sub I had stumbled into….
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Looks like Jared's back on the menu, boys!
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
I never liked or got into Dirty Dancing. The Mummy, though…
Over_Interaction_925@reddit
Dirty dancing and grease both sucked. I'm a female and I hated both of them. But my mother loved them.
CatsEqualLife@reddit
Because while I was down (heh) for Penny, Baby wasn’t my thing. I love Jennifer Grey, I’m just not into her. And while I was confused about Penny, Evelyn’s eyes sold me. Also, the fact that she’s married to Daniel Craig, who is my top male Hollywood crush, is the hottest thing. Ever.
AshDogBucket@reddit
Come on, it was the X Files
