To hide weapons among civilian items is to justify bombing of civilian items since they are used for weapons.

They can place offensive missiles in the same container. Even a SAM placed near a target of attack would be used to wipe out defenses of the target.

Your question is like saying what is wrong with civilians outside of uniforms using military weapons to commit war crimes and terrorism.

Because that is a dual use weapon that can be placed on civilian cargo ships and that would make civilian ships a target.

That's like saying rocket launchers can be used by civilians and military so having civilians walking around with rocket launchers in a war zone they should still be protected by Geneva convention.

I refer you to Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, article 37:

"2. Ruses of war are not prohibited. Such ruses are acts which are intended to mislead an adversary or to induce him to act recklessly but which infringe no rule of international law applicable in armed conflict and which are not perfidious because they do not invite the confidence of an adversary with respect to protection under that law. The following are examples of such ruses: the use of camouflage, decoys, mock operations and misinformation."

A weapons system concealed within a shipping container is an entirely legal form of camouflage. According to the definition of perfidy in the same article it would only constitute a war crime if the container was marked with protected symbols (e.g. the red cross) or otherwise falsely marked as a non combatant.

Your original comment made no mention of placing a weapons system such as this on a civilian ship, but instead implied the existence of the weapons system itself was potentially a war crime. This is the point I was refuting, I apologise if that was unclear.

The legality of arming a merchant ship with this weapons system is less certain. In previous conflicts armed merchant ships have been considered a valid form of deception (which is legal under the aforementioned article), however that was normally only if they properly identified themselves as combatants prior to opening fire (e.g. hoisting a flag of their navy and uncovering weapons). It really comes down to what you consider to be an acceptable form of deception and when it's reasonable to assume a ship is a civilian or not. Ultimately that's something lawyers with significantly more expertise than me will determine.

Iran has already said that if Trump attacks Iran's power plants then Iran will respond by hitting all of the Gulf countries economic assets including oil facilities, refineries and water desalination plants!

Countries like the UAE, Bahrain and Oman are highly dependent on those water desalination plants! They will have the bulk of their water coming from those water desalination plants and their destruction will result in millions dying of thirst within 2-3 days, or having to flee their countries.

In short, this will mean the literal "end" of some Gulf countries.

We put THAAD systems into there because of the "threat" from NK and China. But once Israel got into trouble we yanked those systems out of SK and moved them to the Middle East (which Iran destroyed them!).

Hence, SK knows where they "rank" in US priorities.

It is worse than that. SK was allowed to develop an air defense system that Russia taught them how to make.

Gulf states asked to purchase those systems. SK signed the contract to send them over and only the day after it happened did US strip SK of the systems it had there without warning. That is a major betrayal. And seems like it was all coordinated.
