They stopped making these in 1983, and have been recycling them ever since.

They're going to outlast us and the cockroaches.
ferminriii@reddit
And the HP 4000 series printers.
TiEmEnTi@reddit
They remind me of A&W for some reason

It’s interesting that these days I think of plastic as being flimsy and cheap. You could build a house out of these things
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
That plastic will outlive all of us.
crazypurpleKOgas@reddit
Most plastic will.
Substantial_Diver_34@reddit
I still use these as car seats for my twins
roncopenhaver13@reddit
Pro tip for the other parents. Don’t buy into the NHTSA propaganda
TurtleToast2@reddit
They ain't know shit about shit!
jamescb819@reddit
I have a 5 year old and that exact style booster seat has been used at a few different restaurants in recent years. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it right?
yakkitysaxmoment@reddit
This is like Lewis Black’s theory that they stopped making candy corn in 1911 and have just been selling the excess ever since.
VehementVillager@reddit
I remember sitting in (more accurately, trying not to slide out) of these in the early/mid '80s!
maggie320@reddit
I gotta wonder how many times they’re actually cleaned. These and the wooden high chairs.
ErnieBochII@reddit
Or the toxic fumes they’ve been offgassing for 40 years, or the Chinese factory worker that fell into the plastic mould like it never happened.
Gross ass world forced upon us, as we sat and enjoyed our “treat” from McDonald’s
0le_Hickory@reddit
If anything the cfcs volatilized in the first year.
baudmiksen@reddit
Turtles all the way down
Mdriver127@reddit
Calmly but swiftly, place your phone down, exit through the front door, breathe fresh air for 20 minutes.
Ok_Breakfast5425@reddit
At my restaurant job that had them, they got wiped down twice a day, assuming whoever was cleaning the lobby each shift wasn't slacking...
barefootincozumel@reddit
I used to clean both nightly back in my waitressing days. But that was 20 years ago
Aggressive-Plant-934@reddit
Why bother reinventing the wheel?
tetrasodium@reddit
They still make them. Here is one in a slightly different style
abbydabbydo@reddit
This is where I am confused. We still have them everywhere I work(ed)?
Also, somebody mentioned how often they are cleaned. They are usually wiped down after ever used. Sanitized, on the other hand? Never.
coci222@reddit
Are you not using a quat sanitizer to wipe them down? It's what you should be using on the tables
tetrasodium@reddit
Yeah it wasn't even hard to find them, I've seen them quite a few times on the shelves at restaurant depot and similar
gtindolindo@reddit
Title is a lie. Chilis has them.
kateastrophic@reddit
Chilis has notoriously been dumpster diving for booster seats since the 70s.
Loud-Chicken6046@reddit
Indestructible!
greaterwhiterwookiee@reddit
My mom worked for a Darts company (soft tip) back in the 90s and they had made “indestructible dartboard cabinets”. They showed them off by running them over with a jeep. Needless to say these cabinets still exists but the technology, more specifically the monitors, from back in the days were much smaller so the retrofitted cabinets all look so crappy.
But yeah, they still exist. I see them with different company names or no stickers on them.
gdj11@reddit
I think they just hooked some chains onto them to make those swings at the park
Phyddlestyx@reddit
Oh man I remember sitting on these
Phyddlestyx@reddit
Probably fit in them until 86 or 87
