Those who make £100K+ a year, what do you do?

Yes, I know it’s less than 5% of people, but I’m trying to see something here….

Software development. My title is Senior Software Engineer at a huge, international company that everybody knows and nobody would expect to have software engineers. A little over £90k salary, around £115k with bonus. I'm a very lucky boy.
MightyDevOps@reddit
Thats not much compared to the US salaries + stock , they are fucking you over
implicit_return@reddit
It's also not much compared to a Premier League midfielder, but I don't have to run up and down a field for 90 minutes.
Corporations fucking over their employees is literally the basis of our economic model. If they didn't pay me less than the value I create then it wouldn't be capitasm. But given that hellscape as context, I am very happy with my decision to earn less than I could elsewhere in return for a great work/life balance and a big discount on products that I enjoy.
Front_Scholar9757@reddit
Thats amazing! Is it usual to have a bonus larger than your salary?
implicit_return@reddit
£115 with bonus, as in total of both!

I'm retired ..im sure they'll be a witch hunt soon or major downvoting.. I swear these questions just bring out the worse in people.
gander8622@reddit

I for one congratulate you on getting to that position.
NoCold3997@reddit

hornyanonuk@reddit
Would love to know how you get into that
secretlysliving@reddit
I studied marketing (not essential though), then worked for a company doing their marketing and realised I preferred social media.
I started by reaching out to business owners I already knew and offered to manage their socials.
Once I had results and knew I was good, I started to charge more and be more selective with clients.

My grandad was on around 100k a year via his pension towards the end because of the it being index linked so adjusted for inflation. He was an NHS surgeon, but that much as a pension still feels hard to wrap my head around in today’s money lol.
I’m a brokie myself but anyone I personally know on or above that figure today in the UK has been somewhere in the finance sphere, law (magic circle), or tech.

Not me but wife runs a livery yard, is a moderately successful event rider and sells horses that she’s worked with. I don’t work ….. unless you class ‘mooching off the successful wife’ as work in which case Im a CEO
Fluffy_Ad2274@reddit
Do you actually not work? Or are you an unpaid driver, handyman, groom etc etc?
GuybrushFunkwood@reddit
No I don’t work. I mean obviously when she’s out eventing, busy, Im bored etc I’ll happily pop down to sort her other horses out but yeh I’ve not worked since 2020.

Remote-Pool7787@reddit
That’s nice. But you’re currently working 2 jobs because 1 won’t pay. Don’t think that’s exactly what OP is looking for mate
squeekypengin@reddit
Down to 1 job now and on 45k a year, I’ve managed to sort out a lot in a short time. Now im currently researching Everythinf to set up a multi vehicle driving school. It is what OP is looking for because I know plenty multi car instructor earning over 100k. He asked for jobs that bring that in and I answered with a personal touch. Sorry that thats bothered you so much to leave a patronising comment 😅

Lol - almost the same story here! Was an academic manager in in a university - nice pay off for twenty plus years service and then my pension lump sum on top pushed me massively over six figures. Sadly I now have to live on that until I can find a job in this market...
