Hey, a very good replacement of FanControl on Linux is (CoolerControl)[https://gitlab.com/coolercontrol/coolercontrol]. This is what I use and it works like a charm (except the fact that I had to install the it87-extras drivers for it support my motherboard's sensors)

Ubuntu is a bit too keen in trying out new stuff like snaps and flatpaks, which often dont sandbox well or cant be used properly due to their sandbox, so i would recommend looking out for wether you're installing the flatpak/snap or the repo version of a program, and pick the latter if available

He's on LTS, they don't really do much in terms of replacing things while it's supported.
