I live in Harlow, Essex and am absolutely COVERED in mozzy bites. Is it just me? It seems very early in the year for the little blighters.

It has been too windy for the little shits over here I think. Apart from that I haven't had a mosquito inside the house for years. Even outside I rarely see them. But if we do, my OH appears to be a true delicacy to them, they go crazy for a little taste of ginge.

Ensure you can say your question title to someone at a bus stop and have them understand what you mean. So for example, no "Overseas Territories?", instead it should be "What Overseas Territories have you been to?".

I live in cheshunt and my garden has been swarming with huge mosquitoes. They keep coming in my kitchen, I’ve never had this in the 7 years I’ve lived here.

I havent seen or heard any of the buggers, but my smallpox-looking arms are telling me they are definitely here!

Same here also in Essex. clouds of them. I've been putting disinfectant down drains round our building and in the car park which seems to keep them down. So bad last year I had to buy a mosquito net for the bed. A couple of years ago we had one type that caused seriously infected bites. My doctor put me on antibiotics twice. Never known it as bad as this.

Aha! I wonder that's causing it?! I've bought some hardcore incense sticks and I have deet. I always get a few bites but this is madness!
Akash_nu@reddit
I keep my windows and doors closed.

First time last year, I was covered in bites from every little flying fucker out there! I was a mess. I have never reacted to bites from flies before last summer, now I'm just dreading this summer 😫
Rubberfootman@reddit
Same! Previously bites would just be red and itchy, but last year they filled with yellow pus.
A single bite on one ear left me with an ear that looked like a boxer’s ear.

They prefer Blood Type O.
They are also attracted by scents from lactic acid, ammonia and fatty acids.
I have no hope!
Entire-Sentence-9379@reddit (OP)
I'm A+ but I have used some lactic acid by The Ordinary this weekend. Hmmmm.
atsevoN@reddit
Never been bitten by one, is that odd?
Dry_Action1734@reddit
They avoid some people. Myself included. Even when my parents were being swarmed by them… in Norway of all places.
atsevoN@reddit
Do we not taste as good? Maybe they can tell by people’s scent or something?
Flavourifshrrp@reddit
Apparently some people have ‘sweeter’ blood than others and they can smell it and pefer to feast on them.

Depends who you share a space with. I remember as a kid I rarely got bit, they clearly had a preference in my family: mum, sister, me, dad, in that order. So I rarely got bit.
Now (parents divorced and I spend more time with my dad) when given a choice between me, my husband and my dad I’m the top choice for the little bastards.
