Upgrade rtx 3060 12gb to 4090 at $3k AUD/$2068 USD unused still sealed/brand new? Or wait till 6000 series?

Currently rocking 3060 12gb, 32gb ddr4, i5-11600kf on a z590 mobo with 850w Corsair 80+ gold psu. Understand id probs have to upgrade nearly my entire pc.

Saw a listed 4090 at this price, unused and still sealed since it was first purchased in October 2022 with good seller feedback and wondering if this is even a worthy time to upgrade? These were the retail prices from memory of the 4090’s in Australia at the time.

Usually prefer to hold onto my hardware for 7-10+ years in general (specially given this was my 1st pc bought during the crypto mining peak) but thought whether this would be considered a “worthy long term” investment? Given it would be used for both gaming and to also get more local AI productivity work with that extra VRAM.

I also only mainly play single player open world games.

Other thought was to wait till 6000 series is out, in the hope of ram/ssd prices to drop quite a bit by end of 2027 as well as my original plans to wait for a newer gen GPU for when gta 6’s pc version will eventually be released by then. And with the idea to hopefully have a more powerful pc for a dream lg 5k2k oled setup to run games for many years at high-max settings.

Debating whether this is more of an impulse buying thought since I know I could still run local ai models too on my 3060 and given that this is a 3.5 years old card.

Or best to save the money on what would probably be the same cost on a newer higher end 6080 GPU I’d originally like and hope to get in just under 2 years time.

Thanks
