I think I’m officially old now…

Went to a concert last night. Medium size venue and the crowd was Gen X, some who still very much love their 80’s clothes, hair and makeup.
That wasn’t the problem… the smell of rank beer and alcohol breath was making me nauseous. It was disgusting and the smell was constant. I was never so happy when the lights went down and someone lit up and changed the odor to aromatic pot. It was a nice break from the smell of alcohol breath.
Yup, I’m old now

I feel ya. I have a hard time being around drunks, but I’ll take that over being in a fucking secondhand smoke field room any goddamn day
Due_Palpitation2197@reddit
You’d rather being around obnoxious drunks over chill stoners? Or you referring to ciggy smoke?
Larryville-1980@reddit
Cigs only… I don’t drink
Phobos1982@reddit
Yuck, the only thing worse than the smell of tobacco burning is that of weed burning.

I go to mostly hardcore/midwest emo/screamo shows these days with my kids. These shows take place in gnarly basements, rented halls, living rooms, and small clubs. It has a certain smell that reminds me of my youth and its awesome.

Weed smell is gross (to me). These days, it is EVERYWHERE.

I live in a Recreational legal state, I literally see people walking down the street smoking a joint like a cigarette. I smoke myself,(but not in the house) and have since my teens, so it doesn’t bother me. It’s just crazy that nobody cares about it anymore, it was taboo and we had to hide it, you go to jail for having it….now people walk around smoking it without a second thought.
Due_Palpitation2197@reddit
As it should be! It’s wild how the world glorifies booze when it’s so terrible in every way.
TheJokersChild@reddit
I just moved from a place where weed had a lot of prevalence. Most of what I got whiffs of smelled like bad foreign cooking. Couldn't handle it, don't miss it.
_Happy_Camper@reddit
Agreed. I have nothing against any recreational drugs but weed smell is rank and makes me feel ill.
Clamper5978@reddit
I can’t stand the smell of weed anymore. It’s overbearing. I can’t recall being in a venue where I smell people’s breath. Even in small clubs. We attend several shows a year and only the occasional smell of weed. Usually from a vape, so not as bad as when people are smoking it from a joint or blunt. Crazy how potent the smell is now.
Due_Palpitation2197@reddit
It’s incredible! Love that weed smell over nasty booze
Clamper5978@reddit
I don’t smell the booze though. I imaging if you have a vociferous drinker yelling behind you or near you, you could. Mild weed is fine. When I can taste the smell, no bueno. Shit lingers for days
Due_Palpitation2197@reddit
Do you drink? If so, that’s possibly why you can’t smell the stench. It’s so nasty. The smell of the body breaking it down. Yuck. But yeah, today’s weed isn’t even weed lol. It’s all crystallized super dank. Doesn’t even need to be lit to fill up the room
drinkslinger1974@reddit
I was listening to a podcast the other day, and the host said something to the effect of, “the weed today is much more potent that the weed from 30 years ago. This isn’t your dad’s weed.”, which is EXACTLY what they said 30 years ago. “This isn’t your dad’s weed he got in the 60’s, this is the real deal.” 🤣🤣🤣

Went to see Bruce Springsteen a few years ago. I'm watching people come and go expecting them to come back with beer. Everyone kept coming back with Coffee. They were old.

Since I’ve quit drinking the smell of booze is very strong to me when I go out no matter where I am.

My senior realization was this morning when I bought a Sunday paper and was told by my wife that I looked like her grandfather. We all have those moments

I remember when the smoking bans went into effect where I lived locally.
I went into a packed campus bar to dance. I went onto the dance floor and I left immediately as I could not stand the stench!
The smoke smell blocked out the smell of the body odor! I much preferred the smell of smoke, lol.

Sounds like personal preference. Rank beer and alcohol breath aren't smells that ever bother me, but pot smoke is irritating and foul.
bradford68@reddit
Sick and tired of pot smell everywhere!
Legitimate_Ocelot491@reddit
i'm all for it being legalized even though I'm not one to partake, but damn, it smells like shit.
PrattDirkLerxt@reddit
Same. I can’t stand it when I’m at a store and someone just reeks of it.
NoEmployer2140@reddit
I bought a pack of smokes today. I sounded like my boomer parents reflecting on how the cost $1.25 when I was young. Then it hit me. I’m just like them. I got old too.
wild-hectare@reddit
we are definitely attending shows for different genres
Regular-Ad1930@reddit
Lol, at least you went n got out of the house. I can't do crowds n standing around for hours anymore. I smoke my ganja n watch concerts on tv...where I can be comfortable. So, ya... I'm old too. 🥂 Cheers!

This venue had spacious seating! I didn’t need to stand up every 2 seconds for the person with little bladder control
