Anti theft key indicator on, battery replaced, what to do?

I have a 2015 Toyota Camry SE and my husband drove my car for the first time alone yesterday to go to the store across the street. Since it was raining he decided to drive instead of walking. He was there and back in 7 minutes. We laughed about how fast he got back. The next day (today) we were going to run a few errands and he was able to unlock the car but the car won’t start and the anti theft lock indicator is on. I read online to get out the car, lock the doors then unlock them again. The lock and unlock buttons doesn’t work anymore. At this point we can’t get back into the car. I’ve just ordered doordash to replace the battery (CR 2016) but the battery isn’t the issue. The key fob remote still don’t function properly. My driver door handle had broke 5-6 weeks ago so I can’t put the key in the car door handle but the trunk will open. I haven’t climbed into the trunk yet. I’m pretty frustrated and trying to calm down before trying a different approach. FYI I’ve seen him drive plenty of times and he’s a responsible driver or else I wouldn’t have trusted him with my car but I’m not sure if he triggered the indicator to turn on. I was wondering is there something else we could do to avoid going to a locksmith?
