Can’t cultured meat labs grow a lounge chair that's just a giant tongue? Wouldn't you like a giant tongue lounge chair?

Did.... did Dr. Mung Mung write this?

No, I don't want 200 lbs of meat rotting in my living room

I must admit I presumed it would still be alive. Alive and ready for love.
beamerpook@reddit
To keep it alive would take a massive amount of effort, probably from professionals, just like keeping a patient alive while comatose. It would need an source of nutrients, a way to eliminate waste, heating or cooling to keep its natural body temperature, and most likely a wait to keep it moist.
I'm a in the medical field, and I love overthinking this kind of stuff 😀

This guy forgot to stop at the taxidermist on the way home
beamerpook@reddit
They would have to remove the top layer and remove the meat from the inside before stuffing it, especially with support if they need structure. So basically an ugly couch 😂

Damn, your taxidermist wastes a lot of the animal. My guy manages to preserve every single ounce of the animal. Idk why more people don't use the resin cast method of taxidermy

Can you post a picture of you sitting naked on said chair with a penis shaped cushion?
Elvarien2@reddit
how do you suggest we stop this thing from starting to decay the moment it leaves the growth vats ?
I love the idea but we can't practically keep it alive without well, the rest of a whole body. And then you would need to feed it, clean it's waste, etc.
JellyBellyBitches@reddit
I would not, thanks for asking.
As for whether this could be accomplished, I think the current cultured meat trials are relatively small quantities, and you get into structural issues beyond a certain size. Maybe blue whales have muscles that are the size of a lounge chair, like their tongues? I'm not sure about cetacean anatomy. But by and large you're not going to get a single muscle body that's anywhere near that size so then your stringing things together and are we trying to buy engineer that or are we just using a shitload of transglutaminase? And then you're going to want to seal it so it doesn't rot, as somebody else suggested, and at that point you're not even getting the texture of the meat so what's the point? Unless you wanted it to just be a living custom genetically engineered organism that's mostly tongue just for your sitting pleasure which seems like a bit of a horror movie premise if I'm honest lol

Lucrative business idea, with how bad that would go so quickly they'd need to be replaced often. Make it a subscription service and give it an app with a app-like name such as Couchr or something.
$50M in funding for this idea.

Forget spill guards, you’d have to season your furniture with salt and pepper just to keep it fresh
