How obsolete is a 10850k + 1660 super + 3600mhz ddr4?

I mostly game on a plasma TV at 1080p 60hz and at most a monitor at 2048x1536 @ 75hz. I can use an upgrade of at least the GPU as I do have a bunch of emulators and xenia (360), rpcs3 performs poorly for some games like gears 3 where something like a rtx 3070 or 3080 can help I think.
Should I just upgrade the GPU or go for a whole new rig eventually. Pretty happy with the system still but would like to hear opinions.

I'm on a 10700k and my SO is on a 9900k. They both do the job just fine. We both have 5070Tis. No complaints here

What res have you been gaming at with those cards?

She's on 2560x1080 and I'm on 3440x1440. Honestly my old 1660Ti was fine at 2560x1080. It just couldn't handle ray tracing (obviously)

Get a 3070

Either that or a 3080

The CPU is not obsolete, but it's not bad to sell and use the money to upgrade to a newer platform. This can be surprising low cost, sometimes even free with zero net cost.
For example an i5-12600KF beats the older i9 CPUs and costs $160: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/3824vs3730vs3904vs4625/Intel-i9-10850K-vs-Intel-i9-10900K-vs-Intel-i9-11900K-vs-Intel-i5-12600KF

You might get $140-$200 for a 10850K: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=10850k&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&LH_Auction=1&LH_ItemCondition=3000
If you get another $50-$100 for your motherboard, you could have a free upgrade.
The GPU is not fully obsolete, but is the weak point in your build.

Although looking at rpcs3 benchmarks the 12600k wouldn't be a bad choice as it seems to perform better to provide 60fps for God of war 3 so will look into it more

Not sure if theres a point in that as the performance for gaming seems to be about the same betwen the 12600k and the 10900k from a benchmark I'm watching. My 10850k is clocked at 5ghz which works ok, I can pickup a 3070 but feel like I should just save a bit more and get a 3080 at the very least

So, for most games the 10850K is fine. 1660 Super is pretty old; upgrading that will pay dividends in a lot of games.
However, for emulators and particularly RPCS3 the CPU can be a lot more important. I'm not sure exactly what RPCS3 favors though but getting 60 FPS on PS3 emulation is one of those things that's just known to be painful. RPCS3 hits the CPU harder than the GPU because the PS3's Cell processor made it a CPU heavy machine and it is a nightmare to emulate properly and quickly.

Depends lol

A 3080 at the right price will kick butt for your needs. The rest of your system is still solid. If you're interested in new, a regular 5070 will still pair well with your rig. Anything between the 3080 to the 5070 will pair well, even if its just a 4060 or 5060

You can get the Intel ARC B580 12GB for 300USD or the RX 9060 XT 16GB for 420-430USD.
May need a new PSU though.

I got a 1000 watt psu. Had a 6800 and went through a bunch of cards since then. I need Nvidia as I have a r9 380 as a secondary card inside

RTX 5060 8GB for 350USD or the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for 520USD

It’s obsolete whenever you decide that. When the system no longer gives you the performance you desire
1660super is pretty low end today, so I’d want a better GPU too.
Holiday_Bug9988@reddit
It’s just your GPU, the rest of your build can handle games at 1080 60fps easily.
