I gotta give chicken and waffles a second chance. Tried it when it was first becoming popular in California and didn't care for the combination.

I like fried chicken. I like waffles. I like hot sauce. I like maple syrup.

I did not like these things together. The whole time I was just kinda wishing I had just ordered a thing of waffles and skipped the chicken part.

I like chicken and waffles done more in the style of OPs presentation. Breaded popcorn chicken on the waffles with some combination of sweet and savory drizzle or syrup. I don’t care for the ones that serve whole pieces of fried chicken next to a waffle. Both can be excellent but it’s not the same flavor sensation.

Lived in SC all my life and have never come across it.

And amen to that. If I have chips or crackers and a dip or cheese, I likely won’t stop until I either have no more chips/crackers or dip/sauce.

I did this once. Make it fancy with the toothpicks. Passed it out to my friends. Everyone was grossed out but being nice about it. Then I realized they were spearmint toothpicks and they leeched into the food lol
