hi everyone who here is with sky and has sky glass? or just with sky for TV or Broadband in general. what are your thoughts on sky and did you receive any incentives for joining?
TheDroolingFool@reddit
I was with Sky years ago, then BT for ages, and now back with Sky after their Black Friday bundle for TV, broadband and phone which was far cheaper than BT.
The Stream box takes a bit of getting used to but it’s been fine. Had a look at Glass but didn’t think it was worth it since we’ve already got a decent TV, so just went with the little box.
Not needing a dish anymore is probably the best bit.
WiFi’s a bit hit and miss in some rooms. Apparently the idea of “I want to buy a thing, I pay for it, you send it to me” hasn’t landed at Sky. Instead if you want a booster it’s some weird subscription add on and a load of hoops, so for now certain rooms just have rubbish signal which is shit but there you go.

I have Sky Stream. I only have the basic package. The Stream Puck is OK, sometimes it takes a while to connect but it’s easy to navigate and I never have issues streaming TV though the internet. I was considering getting rid of it, but now with Disney+ included (which I previously subscribed to) it works out as decent value. Netflix is also included and thy just added HBOMax and Hayu is coming soon I believe.

Sky customer service has absolutely gone down the shitter in the last few years, wouldn't use them again now.

Sky glass feels like something that would have been pretty innovative about 15 years ago but was too late

Did Walter White's wife start cooking meth too?
EuroFlyBoy@reddit
Yes, have Sky (and they keep including more stuff in basic subscriptions).
But don’t bother with Sky Glass; that’s bullshit. Buy your own TV.
fleck57@reddit
I’ve got Sky but don’t have Sky Glass, as far am I’m aware and I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but Sky Glass is exactly the same except they give you a Smart TV with it installed on instead of just the box that you plug into your existing smart tv

Glass (and its set-top equivalent, Stream) is delivered over the internet rather than via satellite, so is quite different from the satellite-based offering.

I personally don't think Sky is worth the money, so I don't have it.
But why would you want a TV that is designed to lock you into a subscription service?
MrReadilyUnready@reddit
It doesn't inherently lock you in. You can have sky glass without a fixed sky contract and you can use it as a normal TV without sky too.
For most I think it's just the convenience as it's rolled into one sky bill and they sell it at 0% interest. Lots of people keep sky in perpetuity; I had it for 24 years straight.
Routine-Secret-413@reddit
I have Sky broadband for a few weeks now and I have no complaints. It works flawlessly and is far more reliable than Virgin which I had previously.
MrReadilyUnready@reddit
It's a mid TV. You can probably get better TVs for the same money.
HawkwardGames@reddit
I’ve got Sky Glass. Honestly it’s a bit meh. Convenient having it all built in, but I’m not blown away by it
FinanceBloke99@reddit
Hate them. Not even value for money anymore.
Pegasus2022@reddit
I have sky glass
