Anyone been in the same situation?

I have a projected class date this September (First 121 job). My wife is pregnant and is due around that same time.
Has anyone else had a kid during or right before their training? How did you and/or the airline with the situation? I would assume they would want me to postpone my class.

You can always just have another kid, bro.

Currently have a classmate dealing with this. He was able to swap his footprint (not start date) with someone else to start earlier and be finished sooner. Now he just has to worry about his wife delivering during OE.
Had a friend who was due around when her IOE was planned. She made it through OE, then went out on maternity. Couldn’t consolidate and had to requal but all in all a pretty good situation.

I did not delay anything. Both flying in the military overseas & came back state side getting 121 gig. My wife & I were both on the same page.
Seniority is everything!! Plus, she's a military wife. They are cut from a certain cloth. We "the family" are now reaping the rewards till the end of time.

Regionals could care less

They don’t care about your life

If she’s due at that same time then they might delay your class, but if there’s an offset there you could always start training and then take leave and roll into a later class. Ultimately you need to discuss this with your specific airline. A classmate of mine had a baby within three weeks of starting and he just went back one class to take two weeks of leave.

Seniority is forever. Kids are eighteen years.

Most airlines will let you delay a class date for a few weeks for the birth of a child. Possibly not a shitty regional, so your results may vary.

I would contact the airline sooner rather than later if you want to move class dates
