10+ years in this seat and my back is screaming every morning… how do you truckers even stay healthy on the road?

Stretch, stretch, stretch.
RectumRavager69@reddit
Properly adjust your seats air ride settings and spend real money on good seat cushions and a lumbar support cushion. Stretch regularly. Look up the McGill Big 3 and do them regularly. Walk more. Don't be excessively fat. Slow down on bombed out shitbag sections of road.

McGill Big 3
Walk more

Stretches
As someone who was home for 1.5 years due to disk hernia, search up stretches for that.
Get your steps in (best thing for your back).
Work out when you can.
Conscious-Material16@reddit
Strict work out regimen. Twice a week massages. Once a month chiropractic appointment. Healthy diet.
Those things might work, but no one has tried them yet.
I have a piss jug stretch i do sometimes.

chiro is a complete scam.
Gonzotrucker1@reddit
It feels good though. Kind of like a hand job. You can do it yourself for free but it feels better when someone else does it for you.
Timmy98789@reddit
Not sure where you're getting those hand jobs, but the chance of a neck injury isn't worth it.
Gonzotrucker1@reddit
Is that some sort of conspiracy? I never heard of chiropractors breaking people’s necks. Once in a great while maybe. But not often.
Timmy98789@reddit
Once is good enough. Look into the history with these quacks. It's a gimmick for many.
East_Indication_7816@reddit
Yeah Just go get a massage . Cheaper and legit . Chiro was invented by a known scammer from Iowa . It does not have medical benefits and can damage your joints . There has been cases of people getting paralyzed by Chiro . My experience with this is also bad that I ended up in disability for a minor tight back muscle .
Various-Blood-3902@reddit
All of this is good except a chiropractic appointment.
Timmy98789@reddit
Chiro scam is still running strong, it's a bit wild.

Pick a niche where they pay the drivers well and there’s work involved. They also usually pay better and treat drivers better.

Taking 4 days off work at the end of April to get a injection in my back.
SlothyTendecies@reddit
I walk my dogs a lot and eat a lot of different types of fish. Movement outside the truck and a good diet can do wonders. I used to have severe back pain until I started making changes.
HowlingWolven@reddit
I don’t stay healthy and it’s driving me to try and quit.
MostlyUseful@reddit
One of the most overlooked ways to reduce and eliminate lower back pain is simply getting out of the truck and walking every day.
sabesix@reddit
I’ve been trying to work on walking more. After 4.5hrs of driving I’m stopping to stretch or walk around. The sedentary nature of the job is brutal on the body. The lack of circulation is a problem. Then there’s the slop at these truckstops that doesn’t help. Sugary drinks and fating fried crap.
deezkeys098@reddit
Look up yoga. It helped me a lot

seat cushion no wallet in back pocket
Elite_Slacker@reddit
Yes and yes. I will also add not being overweight (easier said than done unfortunately) and doing even minor physical activity a few times per week.
wetstorm95@reddit
This is underrated! Also paying attention to the few movements you do all day. Are you slouching while driving? Is your seat set so you have good posture? How about getting in and out of the truck properly?
FlappyJ1979@reddit
Having no air in the seat does wonders for my back. I tend to sit up straight instead of being slouched over all the time. Haven’t had any back issues in years since I first tried it.
Intelligent-Site7686@reddit
I feel you on less cushion is better. My back feels better sleeping on firm mattress or even the floor over a lot of cushion. When I was younger I worked with a guy who had chronic back pain, he fixed it through sleeping on the floor and working out.
Sleep posture... try firm mattress and maybe sleep without a pillow on head. Sometimes sleeping with legs raised (pillow underneath knees/calves) helps relieve pressure and pain in feet and legs
Intelligent-Site7686@reddit
I try to keep fast food/junk at a minimum and walk as much as possible every day. I have bad posture but try to have seat back pretty straight and seat height where my leg is about 45 degree angle to pedal. Like others said, wallet in front pocket when sitting, makes a huge difference. Stay hydrated, don't drink soda or alcohol, try to get fruits and veggies in diet. My gf massages back and legs when I'm home. Sedentary work will give you insane lactic acid buildup especially in legs. Maybe get a better mattress for sleeper
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
Ass of iron.
Emergency-Bus-998@reddit
Yes, i found out by mistake while my truck broke down in a small town for two days that if you walk a few kilometers and stretch a bit, your back pains disappear for the most part. While lyingbin your sleeper before sleep, stretch your legs and or down a few sit ups. You don't necessarily need to go to the gym.

Lots of great kettlebell workouts on YouTube

Surgeries 😂
Microshlongg@reddit
It’s all in your hip flexors. Do lots of hip flexor stretches. And cobra stretch
Rotteneverything@reddit
turn on cc, boost the seat up a little and run in place...in light traffic conditions only of course.
Ceepeenc@reddit
Front wallet and intense stretching 3 times a day.
Eat whole food meals from home.
Hairy_Arachnid975@reddit
If you want to avoid back problems, you have to work out and stretch. Stretch everything below your spine, calves, hamstrings and glutes.

Check out MovementbyDavid or Hybrid Calisthenics on YouTube. David will have plenty of videos for stretching and keeping yourself limber. Hamilton will have calisthenics that you can do to keep your back strong without needing a bunch of equipment. Plus note, he shows variations, so if you cant do something he shows how to ease into it with progressively more difficult exercises
