1980
My dad recently sold the 1985 Toyota truck that was my first ride back in the day. (Had over 300K miles, someone bought it for $800.) What cracked me up
- I can see my C/O ‘98 tassel hanging from the rear view mirror in the pictures. 😆 Godspeed old blue.
What was your first car?
StimulusBoy@reddit
I had the ford courier version in beige. We called it “The Fatness”
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
“Rolling with the fatness” is a lyric in No Diggity! (No doubt)
Dimplefrom-YA@reddit
mind you i had it in 1999 and it broke on the highway.

Escort or Chevrolet?
Abpoe77@reddit
Subaru GL 4wd
luckykricket@reddit
Lol. Neither. My sis had a 85 escort swear they all looked the same...

1985 Ford Taurus. Thanks grandma
kingskrossing@reddit
I had my mom’s 1986 Mercury Sable basically the same car.
Darth_Twinge@reddit
Nice flat tire
Background-Treat5137@reddit
1971 Chevy C10 (Not this one, but the same color and everything).
Neat_Shallot_606@reddit
Had a 78 blazer. Same body. Same color and everything
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
Not my picture but same model and color:
Neat_Shallot_606@reddit
I think you may have been spoiled
Appropriate-Neck-585@reddit
My Grandma's 1982 Toyota Cressida. No heat, No AC, No Casette Deck...but I wasn't on the bus anymore!
Neat_Shallot_606@reddit
It's probably still running now
ma-ki-na@reddit
I called it the hearse.
Neat_Shallot_606@reddit
But you qualify to drive an aircraft carrier now. SKILLS
Insomniac_80@reddit
The only car you could comfortably fit 9 people in!
Abpoe77@reddit
These don't like being airborne. I could tell you more but I'd have to admit to something that "didn't" happen
IAm5toned@reddit
You really needed the Interceptor package over the wagon to be jumping an LTD. trust me on that one lol
Abpoe77@reddit
We are very aware of this... now
sixmilesoldier@reddit
Mine was the jr version of this. 1984 Ford LTD II station wagon. The silver bullet.
Mike_Honcho_Summer@reddit
The family truckster
roadrunner00@reddit
People pay big money for these now
PeepJerky@reddit
Mine was an ‘82 Buick station wagon. With the fake wood paneling.
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
My friend had something similar!! 😆😆
Neat_Shallot_606@reddit
'78 blazer, 5 mpg, people could here it coming from a mile away, same color too. But our has been rolled. Crushed doors really get people to give you space in traffic.
Shirkaday@reddit
Wait and 80s Toyota trick recently sold for only $800?
If it was running, people would be asking at least $5k where I live (DFW Texas).
Anyway, my first was a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Boring little car but always ran great and was build like a tank.
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
Nah the guy that bought it towed it back.
ebjazzz@reddit
1970 Buick Grand Marquis. We called it the Banana Boat.
Red_Car_Singer@reddit
I can smell this picture, and know that you were grateful for cloth seats in the summer. My mother's hand me down Ford Torino had the faux leather vinyl seats that gave me burns on the backs of my legs in the summer.
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
Oh when I drove it had those OG seats. At some point later they got badly ripped and my dad got the seat replaced.
Good times!!
MS-Dau5@reddit
1982 S-10 in ‘98 The stereo I put in it was worth more than the truck 😂
Top_Chard5757@reddit
My first was an 85 S-10. Barely got up to sixty. It’s amazing how shitty a 10 year old car was in the 90’s. Both of my rides are 12 years old and drive like new.
Jdojcmm@reddit
I had an 87 S10 Blazer. 2.8 v6 5 speed. Slow as hell but rev it and dump the clutch for a decent single-wheel burnout. Sold it, bought back 2 years later to have something with 4WD. Sold again a few years later.
I miss it.
ReinaShae@reddit
A 92 mercury tracer. Basically a Ford escort
ShillinTheVillain@reddit
1992 Chevy Corsica. White with maroon interior
lakebistcho@reddit
Automatic?
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
Yup
ResurgentClusterfuck@reddit
Taught myself to drive this ugly thing (84 Pontiac Grand Prix)
Dropped the transmission in a Taco Bell drive thru at 3am :(
DStew713@reddit
1990 ford tempo. Red with a white bumper because it was rear ended twice. The drivers seat was also broken so I had to switch it with the passenger seat. I had a cooler between the passenger seat and the back seat to keep it from leaning back all the way.
she-dont-use-jellyyy@reddit
1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. It was maroon. And hideous. And I loved it.
TryFine317@reddit (OP)
My granny had a cutless that I also drove frequently! My friend had one in brown that he called the doozer. We called my granny’s the bluezer! lol
Moons_of_Moons@reddit
I present to you, the 1985 Plymouth Duster
Abpoe77@reddit
My man! Rocking 2.2 Charger! I bought one while in the Navy. I think my third car
Moons_of_Moons@reddit
The carberator was somehow the same size as the rest of the engine.
luckykricket@reddit
Gorgeous!
have1dog@reddit
1978 GMC square body with a 350 small block that ate a quart of oil every 3 days….
Primer grey, straight pipes, and no speedometer
It was a total POS, but I still wish I had it.
vikmaychib@reddit
A Mazda B1600 (third gen). The first one I got to drive was a Subaru Leone 4WD State from 84.
Separate-Relative-83@reddit
1960s ply Plymouth Valiant station wagon. Push button shifter. It was my great uncles car, he followed the Dead in that thing. Smelled like weed and patchouli. It died all the time. Yay.
quickblur@reddit
I love how clean the dashboards used to be
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
85 LeBaron gang here
shankthedog@reddit
That a Comanche? Nice. I had an 89 xj that I’d beat on. Love the amc 4.0 straight 6.
CantaloupeAsleep502@reddit
My first car was a 74 bronco. I didn't have the mechanical wherewithal to take care of a car like that, but damn I wish I had learned. We got it for 6kin 2001, put about 6k into it, and my dad sold it for 6k in like 2010. Today that car is worth about 80k in the condition it was in, north of 200 cleaned up.
NPC261939@reddit
My first car was an 89' Ford Country Squire. AKA the boat.
ass-eatn-szn@reddit
84' Fiero. It was like a go-cart with a manual.
Away-Quantity928@reddit
I had a 86’ Toyota MR2. No picture tho.
ass-eatn-szn@reddit
I stole this pic from the Google.
luckykricket@reddit
1984 toyota celica Supersport. Tore out 2 clutches, busted every speaker, but she ran like a beast!
I remember it was $3500 bucks in 1995. I drove it til I traded her for a used 1996 mustang. The mustang was garbage. Regret giving up my girl...
Away-Quantity928@reddit
Still $3500.
degjo@reddit
A 1986 nissan sentra. What a piece of shit it was.
deeno777@reddit
Me too!
Away-Quantity928@reddit
Yet, we still can’t get better than 40mpg.
singleguy79@reddit
I got a handmedown car from my mom.
qwerty-game@reddit
1984 Chevy Citation. The best car I ever owned.
dmaddog@reddit
89' 2wd jeep commanche

Mine was a 93’ Dodge Dakota, that i dubbed the “Green Monster” and beat to shit of till wouldn’t run anymore.
RealityOk9823@reddit
An 83 Reliant wagon that my older brother traded for a broken down 3 wheeler. Put $600 into it and it ran for a few years before it was finally slap worn out. Block of wood kept the radio from falling into the dash and a broom stick held up the rear gate.
81_satellites@reddit
I can smell the interior of that truck.
Alex-646@reddit
77’ Datsun 710 here. 0-50 in 3min 4sec
echochilde@reddit
I took over my parents’ ‘97 Ford Expedition. Horrible, horrible idea to give their daughter an off road vehicle that could fit ~15 drunk teenagers if some were standing on the running boards and holding onto the luggage rack. (We all lived)
My husband’s was a ‘73 Impala. We still have it. That thing is a goddamn road yacht.
Prize_Ad6430@reddit
Mine was a 84 Z28 Camaro with leaky t-tops. I'm gonna have to search around for photos.
Brent_L@reddit
Not my photo but my grandma gave this to me
0MGWTFL0LBBQ@reddit
Mercury Topaz with a salvage title. I paid $600 for it and it was amazing. I upgraded to a 4door LeBaron. When that died I bought a Monte Carlo and found what I had been missing out on.
mrtimtracy@reddit
My first car was a black Datsun pickup!
Illustrious-Low3948@reddit
Volvo 740.
Food_Library333@reddit
I wish I had a picture of my first car. It was an old 1986 Chevy Citation hatchback. It was gray and the guy who owned it before me painted racing stripes on it because if any car looks like it needs racing stripes, it's a Citation.

1990 Toyota Celica with the pop up headlights and a personal smokescreen when I started it.
little_bird_vagabond@reddit
My first car was an 84 Malibu. It jumped like it had hydraulics if you got above 40.
ki4bxu@reddit
A 1986 silver Volkswagen Golf 4-door. It's in the background of this image. Photo was taken in 2007, a few days before I took delivery of the wrapped-up Passat that I special ordered.
bigfancydelta@reddit
* '77 GMC Jimmy. Man I wish I still had that bad boy!
Abpoe77@reddit
Very age appropriate.
