Replace all car travel with flights

It’s well known that air travel is safer than driving. We can save lives by replacing all car trips with flights.
Family road trip to the Grand Canyon? Take a flight instead.
Driving to grandma’s house? Try flying.
Grocery store? Fly there.
And think about all the frequent flier miles everyone will have.

Houses are built adjacent to roads. For this to work, they’d need to be built adjacent to airstrips.
But us all having our own planes still wouldn’t work to make things safer:
So you’d have to build all the homes close to commercial airports. Maybe we’d all just live in skyscrapers on the airport grounds.

Well the thing is a lot of trips are too short for this, so let's analyze WHY air travel is so safe.
Yeah. Control. All major aircraft must follow precise maintenance schedules using approved parts, the pilots have extensive training and are in constant communication with outside controllers telling them where all their fellow drivers are.
So to replicate this for shorter trips, we would need a system of ground conveyances in which the drivers are trained and disciplined, in contact with a network of dispatchers to tell them about traffic hazards, and the vehicles are fleet vehicles under the responsibility of a fleet manager to assure only approved parts and schedules are used.
Sounds like quite a challenge.

Most car crashes happen close to home, not on road trips. If safety is the concern, increase funding for actual quality public transportation in more cities, invest in quality bike and walking infrastructure like in New York or Amsterdam, invest in a national high speed rail network like Japan or Europe, and truly embrace remote work to lessen total vehicle miles driven by eliminating daily commutes that should be largely obsolete now
