[NSFW]A business that cultivates lab-grown meat based on a DNA sample of given person

Ever wondered how somebody would taste like if you ate their flesh? The business would allow you to satisfy such morbid curiousity without becoming a deranged serial killer (you still would be deranged, just not a serial killer)
P.S. Probably you would also need to submit additional information, like target's weight and age

Charles stross included a snippet on either rule 34 or halting state where there was a cannibal club shit down where they were enjoying lab grown meat from members, as the point of he club

Why did you mention Sam Altman specifically?

The celebrity endorsement deals are going to be insane! "Hi, I'm Taylor Swift and I want you to eat me! Literally. Put my flesh in your mouth and chew before you swallow."

Tastes kinda bland I bet

Pretty meh. Try it once and then what?
Pork would be cheaper, majority of people won’t do it again. Not cuz they’re disgusted but cuz they don need to.
Human and pig taste super similar, but human costs more, so why buy human? Business fails

I can see celebs would use it as merch...
"MrBeast Lunchables, now with protein from Jimmy's actual ballsack"

How do you know human and pig taste similar? Did you kill someone and try it?
HimikoTogaFromUSSR@reddit (OP)
It's for connoisseurs who would be able to tell diffirent kinds of human meat apart, not for people just curious how human meat as such tastes like
Fireproofspider@reddit
For lab grown meat, you normally start with cells, not necessarily DNA, although you can genetically modify the cells to carry whatever DNA. But, it wouldn't be much harder to harvest your cells instead of DNA, albeit a bit more painful.
Honestly, this isn't a crazy idea. If we can grow meat, the initial cell culture is trivial and I can see a company like this existing as soon as the stigma goes away a little bit. Unless human meat is particularly bad, it will definitely be something on the menu, and maybe even be billed as an ethical choice (you are eating yourself instead of another being).
Thinking about it, using solar power to grow your own cells to then eat it for energy would be a convoluted form of photosynthesis.

I haven’t watched Project Hail Mary but I just finished the book. So I don’t know if your idea is mentioned in the film but it’s in the book

So, you send them a cheek swab and they send you back a box of meat?
That you can then send to someone and honestly tell them "eat me!"

Yep
