How to balance?

Hey, I'm about to start learning mechanical engineering, but I also want to learn how to make software/games using c/c++ (just for fun) how can I make sure I can do both without damaging my performance at college or without having slow progress when it comes to learning how to code?

It’s honestly a bit of trial and error.
I tried stacking everything at once and burned out fast, so spacing things out during the week helped way more than cramming. Consistency beats intensity here.

There is no one answer, you have to find that balance yourself for your situation. I suggest you start by focusing more on college studies and learning to code a couple hours per week if you can. Then you can adjust it when you see how much time college takes and how much time you are left with. In my opinion fewer hours regularly is better than more hours but done infrequently. But like said, it is up to you to find that balance that works for you.

By studying hard in both subjects.

How to know how much time to dedicate to each subject? Just until I understand everything I need to?

12 hours a day for each.

You should be able to take c/c++ classes as electives
