also doing dial up on this system

You can still find cheap computer stuff at goodwill? All the thrift stores around me want over $100 for anything "vintage computer" related.

nah, we think they just didnt have anything to test it with and put it at the lowest price, this crt has no menu so if they had no vga system to test it with it probably wasnt worth putting expensive for them, if it was tested it would probably be on goodwills auction site, hes found his main crt monitor at that same goodwill

That friend's a keeper. Maybe even a LAN gaming partner too if you're real lucky.
CraftedKittens@reddit (OP)
yeah, he doesnt do too much retro gaming though, i have had a lan party with some of my other friends, this friend does more phreaking stuff and usually messes with old dos programs more than he cares about games

I remember back in the mid 2000s, I could go into a local goodwill and buy a CRT for 25 to 50 cents. Bought a 15 or 17" one to go along with my emachines flat CRT I used

I remember back in mid 2000s, people paid to get rid of CRT monitors and desktop computers.
CraftedKittens@reddit (OP)
yeah my grandfather did that with the three crts he had and now he regrets it knowing that i could've taken them
CraftedKittens@reddit (OP)
yeah goodwill has gotten greedy lol

In my circles friends don't give friends CRTs. We all have more than enough already. 🤣
CraftedKittens@reddit (OP)

boluserectus@reddit
I'm a bit sad..
No big BOINGGGG after turning on the monitor, and no initialisation beep and floppy seek when turning on the PC :(
CraftedKittens@reddit (OP)
its because the monitor wasnt off for long enough lol, it seeks floppys when i turn the pc off
