Me too. I have refused to buy over 20 cpr since before covid, and havent had any issue doung that. As long as you buy enough to have enough ammo on hand, you can get through the natural dips of the market. Only time I have went over to .23cpr is for 147 subs.

For standard 124gr 9mm I almost exclusively shoot this Monarch due to Academy having these deals and best price often. I do have a few thousand of Blazer the past year ordering from AEammo and such.

For the 147, I hardly shoot subs so I still have about 2k left ordering from AEammo in the past year as well.

Just a little while ago on March 17, I ordered Scheels 1k rnds of Federal Champion 124gr for $218.00 shipped with an ammo can. Thats before the $30 off amex offer too.

On March 25th, I got Blazer 115gr 1k rnds for $187.00 before taxes.

The deals can be had, you just need to stock up when they are there, and hold off during the natural dips. I have not purchased 9mm 124 over .20 cpr since 2019.

Also there was a federal black pack 115 deal like a week ago

an academy sports opened near my house and it’s by far one of the worst “sporting goods” stores i’ve been to for guns they have a incredibly limited gun selection, terrible optic selection and if you wanna see ANYTHING in the glass cases you have to hand over your id and they ask if your address is your current address and they don’t give it back until you give whatever it is back to them. it feels insulting considering literally no other gun shop in northeast ohio i’ve been to does that. my buddy purchased a gun there and one of their employee’s put on a jacket and just stared at us until the transaction was over i was standing behind him looking at stuff on the shelves (probably thinking it was a straw purchase) but at that point don’t sell them the gun if you’re that suspicious of somebody and then they walked us to the door and didn’t hand my buddy the gun until we were outside of the store (like that would stop a straw purchase) it’s incredibly stupid the procedures that have in place there and the prices aren’t good whatsoever.

You will almost always get a better deal from an online merchant. Big box stores usually can't even compete with local gun stores (and they can't compete with online). And you will sometimes get free shipping and\or no sales tax depending on where you order from.

If you need\want to feel\try the gun before purchase, go to a local range\rent it if you want to try it.

Academy is good for the occasional ammo deal but their Monarch brand can't be guaranteed to not be Turkish junk (even for the 115 gr 9mm) unless you go their in person and check before purchase, so it simply is not worth the effort imo, esp. when they have been having decent deals on CCI Blazer Brass 115 gr recently.

Academy is pretty awesome if you know how to shop deals. One of the few stores I know that lets you use and stack coupon and discount codes on ammo/guns. Their online/email deals also cant be beat. The random $25 off a 100 spent email they send me are sweet! If you buy any safe (Even the super cheap pistol safes) they take 10% off the gun purchase. They also will not just price match a competitor but beat their price by 5%.

So how I shop Academy. Find a retailer selling a gun for cheaper and get an extra 5% off of that price, buy a cheap pistol safe for the 10% off. Add in a couple online discount codes and that spend 100 get 25 code and end up with a crazy good deal. My best dealings has been a 2k rounds of 9mm/45 acp plinking for around I got my g43x in peanut butter for 419/ home defense for .22 cpr with this and a vortex UH-1 for 260.

Academy has a list of retailers they will beat, you have to make an account and subscribe to emails for the 25 off 100 and they have lots of codes just floating around on the googles to try out. A bedside pistol safe I don’t count in the price because I see them as my future sweet wedding/birthday/ Christmas gift for someone. It also helps you can stack the sale onto of safes that are already on sale. Got my 32 gun safe for under 500 from them when I bought my g43x.

If you’re just a see shiny but shiny, I get that 100%, ask me how I ended up with my 1911 Im incredibly cheap but also like nice stuff so I have no problem taking the time to put on a funny tiny hat and start to make all the penny pinching moves for a great deal.

I wouldn't fuck with Wolf or some rando brand steel, but magtech is good to go. It's zinc plated fwiw so it should be a little easier on the chamber. If I had something top shelf like a 2011 or a DWX I'd prob stick to 100% brass, but I'll run it through a Glock all day. Even if it does accelerate wear, we're talking extractor, ejector, and barrel, all cheap and easy to replace(lightly used OEM glock barrels can be had for ~$50 or less)

True extractors are inexpensive, but so is turkish ammo. I once avoided it too, until I decided to try it for myself. Ive now shot tens of thousands of rounds with no more issues than if I would have spent much more on name brand. I would at least shoot 3-5k rounds to have your own experience.

My personal opinion is I would rather get more trigger time using inexpensive ammo rather than shooting “nicer” ammo and shooting less. The savings can also directly fund other training classes/competitions etc.

I do keep a few thousand of Blazer for competition use only. Monarch is just fine for training.

One person replied to me in the last few days that he received Magtech ammo from Brazil in his recent online order of 115gr Monarch in the 250 round box but just a week to 3 weeks earlier someone else got BPS from Turkey with his online order of the 115gr brass in the 250 round box.

Bought a case of this stuff for my 9mn 1911s. All of it worked perfectly fine and had the extra power to get those 1911 slides going. The 124 NATO is Turkish BPS.

I've shot probably 2k rounds of Monarch BPS half 115 and half 124 NATO. I had one hard primer in the 115 which my glock didn't set off. Threw it in my SP-01 and it set it off. I have had 100% success with the 124 NATO.

I also picked up a case of 115 Brazilian like 2 weeks after since they were out of 124 NATO. The store mainly had Brazilian.
