Selling car with bad transmission

What will be the best bet? We have a 2016 Elantra with approx. 138k miles, and a bad transmission. It (kinda) drives, mechanic quoted $5500 to repair.
The car has 4 brand new tires (unfortunately), some hail damage, a cracked windshield, and the bad transmission. Other than that, everything else is in good shape.
Best off with a private sale, or sell it to Peddle or another equivalent? Any advice is appreciated. We did not trade it in for other reasons that I won’t get in to.

Spend $1000 on tools. Watch youtube videos and read articles and service manuals. Spend $1000 on a transmission. Get your hands dirty. Your next car will cost you $5000 to fix eventually.

10 year old Elantra that needs $5500 worth of repair is mechanically totalled. You won't get anything over scrap value for it.

Unethical tip, try to trade it into Carvana. They barely test drove my car before handing me a check.

Call a salvage yard. They will handle everything and give you a few hundred dollars

This is the answer I was looking for tyvm! I’m well aware the car isn’t worth shit, @everyone else, I’m just looking for the easiest way to get rid of it and put some cash in the pocket

lol $5500 for an Elantra transmission. That’s like twice dealer new price, where are you going for a “mechanic”? I would call the local Hyundai dealer and get a quote for a reman transmission installed price.

“hail damage, cracked windshield, bad trans, but other than that it’s good!”
Brother lol. Sounds like a parts car / scrap. I’d sell it to anyone who’s willing you give you any amount of money.

Get 4 donut spare tires from a scrapyard and put this on it. Scrap the car, sell the almost new tires separately, you’ll probably double your profit.
That car is totaled.

Honestly those cars aren’t worth diddly squat. You could try throwing it on marketplace for $1000 or scrap it. If you’re handy then you could make the most money by parting it out.

It’s totaled. Scrap it for a few hundred $$.

This is the answer. Not worth anything.
