What cpu and motherboard should I get?

What cpu and motherboard should I get for my rtx 5070 gb? I was initially gonna go for a 5060 ti, but turned out mine was faulty, so I returned it and managed to snag an rtx 5070 for 480€ which I think is a pretty good deal? But I'm pretty sure my z490m and i7-10700k would be pretty outdated by now, any recommendations what to upgrade to? I saw that the ryzen 5 9600x is good, but since ddr5 ram is so expensive right now I'd like to stick to ddr4

480€ is amazing for an RTX 5070.
370€ gets you an i5-14600KF + B760 DDR4 board.

Honestly this cpu seems like the best bet for my budget range, though I have to ask, will it bottleneck the 5070 at 1080p games with low graphics?
DZCreeper@reddit
If we are talking about e-sports type games, yes. Don't worry about bottlenecks though, it will still produce high FPS consistently.

For me this combination costs around 420 €, is that good? Or should I look for something else

You don't need to buy that exact motherboard, any B660/B760/Z690/Z790 model with DDR4 support and decent power delivery will work.
CPU choice is also flexible. 12700KF or 13600KF are acceptable substitutes for the 14600KF if they are cheaper in your country.

Actually I found an i7-14700f for the same price as the i5-14600k, is it better?
DZCreeper@reddit
Yes. 2 more P-Cores and 4 more E-Cores. 100-200MHz more boost clock as well.
Just be aware the power draw is 219 watts vs 181 watts on the 14600KF. For that heat output I would recommend a 360mm AIO.

Someone recommended me to get the thermalright phantom spirit 120 se, would that be able to handle it as well?
DZCreeper@reddit
Yes, if your case has good airflow that cooler can handle 250 watts.

Make sure to add an LGA1700 contact frame. In my experience this reduces temperatures at full load by 3-8 degrees, depending on IHS flatness.

The reason I recommended the 360mm AIO was more forgiveness for poor case airflow, there is just more surface area to dissipate heat.

Got a microcenter near you? Could always pick up one of their bundles (I think they do Intel bundles as well as amd). Not sure your budget or what you're using it for. Could make the jump to ddr5 in the process.
NoodleyBoi_@reddit (OP)
I could, but I dont think there would be a bundle in my budget range that contains cpu, motherboard and the ddr5 ram, sorry for not mentioning budget earlier
Legitimate_Buddy_974@reddit
What's your budget? I just picked up 32gb of ddr5, asus x870-p motherboard and the 9850x3d for 699 plus tax. With the prices I've seen of the cpus and mobo alone I'm not sure how much cheaper you'd get out (then again I was looking at am5 so I suppose ddr4 board/cpu would be a different story)
NoodleyBoi_@reddit (OP)
300-400€, I think my budgets too low honestly
NotSlimShadyy@reddit
I'd ride out your CPU now and save up. Ddr5 prices seemed to have plateaued and will be coming down a bit. I'd go for a 9700x bundle or 7800x3d bundle from microcenter. Id say it'll be in the 500-600 range. You could also sell your motherboard, CPU and ram and use that money towards the new bundle

is this a good deal? https://www.ebay.de/itm/306735703727?var=606628621762&toolid=20006&customid=myOozYr0fd11HjgTp03dZg

Although low overall, asrock motherboards are the worst for killing x3d CPUs overall. I know it's still overall a low chance of it happening, I'd stay away from that
NoodleyBoi_@reddit (OP)
500-600 would be doable tbh if it includes ram, but I live in germany so I dont think we even have microcenters
Texan_Riot@reddit
5800X3D if youre not going 7800X3D or 9800X3D.
Intel is nowhere near as powerful as AMD currently in the gaming sector
NoodleyBoi_@reddit (OP)
Is the 5800x3d or i5 14600k better just performance-wise? CPU will be pretty important for me since the games I play arent very graphically demanding. I would prefer AMD but I dont think itll be better at this price range because of the i5 14600k
No_Spare1827@reddit
Normally I would suggest a 5700x but I don't think its too far off of what u have now, Now I dont know what the specific budget is but a 14600k and a DDR4 compatible board would not only be a huge upgrade but would give u plenty of room for future GPU upgrades
NoodleyBoi_@reddit (OP)
I think I'll go with this cpu, thank you very much
gamblodar@reddit
See what you can find used. A 12-14th Gen intel or 5800x and a compatible motherboard is as far as you can go with ddr4.
