How bad is aston martin really?

So like the title says, I’m planning to buy a 2020 Aston Martin Vantage and wanted to hear from people who’ve actually owned one about reliability.
For reference, I currently have a 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. I’ve had it for about 3.5 years and honestly it’s been really reliable, despite what a lot of people say. As long as I stayed on top of maintenance, it hasn’t been expensive to own either(Less than 1k maintenance per year) (at least here in the US).
So I’m wondering if Aston is kind of similar in that sense. Like for example, Alfa had a lot of issues before 2019… engines weren’t great, bad batteries, carbon buildup, and other internal problems. But they fixed pretty much all of that around 2020 and newer models have been pretty solid.
Is that the same situation with Aston Martin? Like did they fix most of their issues around the 2019–2020 refresh, or are they still kinda… doo doo and unreliable overall?

Aston owner here. Firstly head over to the sub for a lot of real world owner info. The 2019 Gen Vantages are a very different beast to what came before and are generally quite reliable. It’s more of a supercar (or at least closer) than the previous gen and it’s certainly faster but it’s bit more of a merc than any other previous Aston.
There robust, incredibly fast and handle amazingly.

Aston got much better when they partnered with Mercedes... 2020 vantage is much more reliable than prior years. You still have to pay a big parts premium when necessary, but they're not divas anymore.

What on earth are you talking about lol.
The VH series cars are known as being “bullet proof” in terms of engines and transmissions which is why the V8 and V12 vantages are actually going up in price.
The AMG vantages are cratering in price to the point they’re getting to VH pricing. Those early engines also had terrible issues with the fuel pump to the point Mercedes were cutting apology checks, but ironically the Aston modified version was a little more reliable.
It’s not to say they are bad but the Aston Martin engines have a somewhat legendary status for being robust.

In terms of reliability, like we're talking, they fixed like 1-2 things or fixed enough where I don't got to worry about blowing a valve clean off from a decent pull on the streets

It uses a Mercedes engines and a ZF transmission.
Both are very reliable as far as exotic/supercar stuff goes.

Reliability really isn’t a huge concern, but all maintenance and repairs need to either be done at an Aston dealer or a specialty shop that specializes in Aston, both of which you will pay a premium for.

I LOVED my Quadrifoglio! Wife - not so much. Really needed an adjustable suspension. Bought a new DB 11 in 2019. Volante. Love it! Went for it because of the AMG powertrain. (V8). Searched & found Mercedes put the same engine in 14 different models. Love the car - no problems. Minimal maintenance cost with independents. ( Be sure it’s the V8)!
