How do you keep the truck from not stinking? I am wanting to add a cat in my truck in a few months and need some tips to keep the truck smelling good

I had a cat we adopted in my truck for the summer a couple years back; got a covered, front entry box I kept on the passenger side floorboard; used trash bags to wrap the bottom (entire bottom), and used good litter, not clay. Empty entire box once a week using the trash bag. Spot clean with a scoop as needed. The enclosed box really made a difference, and keep ozium in your truck for an as needed help.

I use a top entry box on floor between passenger seat and dash; I then built a wood box that sits on litter box and seat, spanning from the dash to the back of seat. I cut holes in the top and bottom, bottom one lines up with litter box entry. There’s also a dividing panel inside box, and a litter mat. The cat has to snake a bit so it cut out almost all tracking.
I removed the door’s grab handle, so the litter box can easily be pulled out and set on the ground for cleaning, that prevents dusting up the interior; I look for good ground, usually at the pumps, better lighting too, avoid pee bottle ground. I use crystal litter, only solids need scooping, liquids and odor get absorbed.

Cleaning the cat box daily is important but more important is don't use a clay litter. Clay later is the reason that when you walk into somebody's house you can tell that they have cats cuz you can smell them. You can get a corn cob or grass seed based litter and you never get that gross among you smell. Walnut shell litter is a good one too. Pretty much anything that you can get at Petco that's not clay will work I said Petco cuz I don't know what litters PetSmart carries. Oh and avoid silicone layers. They're awesome for sucking up the pee(so no ammonia smell) but they don't clump and unless you have a really deep filled box and your cat is good at burying you're going to smell the poop until you clean the box.

Never had any pets when I was OTR but I'd assume you clean the box immediately after they use it and once a week so a full washout and it'll never stink.
Cats themselves never smell.

I can't speak for cats, but I just clean everyday. I grew up aroud filth and I can't stand anything being dirty. It's the first thing I do every day when I stop. But I kind of have to since I have 2 dogs. My company also has a pet washing thing at our main terminal so they are constantly getting baths. Just blow the truck out to get the hair out then wipe everything down then spray the bed and seats with odoban. I always get complimented on how clean my truck is.

You can take your dog a bath at loves if you didn’t know.

I've never been a fan of that, personally. I mean more power to whoever does that, I just personally wouldn't unless it's an emergency bath. Hell, I've given them a bath outside in the pouring rain and they love that. We hit the terminal every other week so they stay pretty clean.

I did that with my dog 2-3x a week, I don’t got her anymore. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with showering her now she act like a fool when the water touch her face

Mine do pretty well with baths. They are both about 70 lbs so they've learned if they are inside getting a bath they need to hold it together for 10 minutes or it turns into a rodeo.

Big dogs you have, I had a pit mix she’s 35 pounds

I have one blue nose and one lab/pit mix. the blue looks heavier because he's so short but the lab mix is so tall it evens out. They are within 5 lbs of each other.

Are they potty trained?
SlothyTendecies@reddit
Oh for sure. I don't remember the last accident they had, excluding them being sick.

Does a c-15 count like a cat?

Keep the litter box clean my brother. That should be your #1 remedy. Clean your surfaces with a quality cleaning solution whenever practicable. The stank of cat pee/poo is powerful. Removing the source and wiping down the aftermath will keep you happy.

Clean the box everyday and make sure you buy unscented cat litter. Ride with two cats in a big sleeper truck for 5 years. Make sure you put a mat down to catch the litter that stays on their paws

scoop the litter box every day. wipe down the inside walls (Lysol or Clorox wipes do the trick). the cleaner you keep your truck, the cleaner your cat will keep it, too.

I had my cat with me for about a year before he got tired of it.
Use good clumping litter. Clean it every chance you get. I managed to do so pretty much every time he used it.

Same answer as an apartment just keep everything clean

Air purifier plugged into the inverter would help.
