1950 Chevy I should probably just scrap.

But my daughter has decided she wants to work on it with me and maybe drive it to school a couple of days a week in a few years when she can drive. It's about 3 miles on slow neighborhood roads so it's definitely realistic for her. I picked it up a couple years ago super cheap as a running/driving car. The PO had swapped in a 60s turbothrift but left the original manual and torque tube rear end. They had drilled new holes right through the trans bell housing and said send it. I didn't realize until it started shaking itself apart.
Now it's sitting on a Nova rear end, still has the 250 straight 6 and my daughter helped me throw in a TH350 I had laying around. As long as she shows interest this will be our ongoing project.

You're not gonna regret it you would've regretted selling it. Me and my dad are doing a 1950s Dodge cornet. Trailblazer female v6 twin turbo wish we could've kept it original but there was to match to change it back and we had it sitting around
KittiesRule1968@reddit
Where are you located? I'd give you $500 for it today
MonksOnTheMoon@reddit
Why would you ever scrap something like that? Body looks great and all the glass is there!

Had it up for sale since last year for 500 bucks with a clean title. No one in my area was interested. Just put in a big parts order so it's off the market now. My daughter is supper excited about it.
Local_Bobcat_2000@reddit
I think you were advertising to the wrong market. There is definitely a demand for this. It’s the right size, right number of doors and just beautiful styling.

The 250 with an Offenhauser or Clifford 4-bbl. intake would be very nice. Add modern power steering and brakes, pretty it up, add radial wide whites, and you have a great car.

I worked in a shop and restored a 48 Chevy coupe. I'd never do it again but it was freaking sweet when done. Most of the bad experience was the customer showing up every other day and hanging out for hours just going around the car and requesting more shit be done like relocating the gas door and such...
Beautiful car! Don't scrap it! Maybe sell it but don't scrap!
DonutFlavouredBagel@reddit
Don’t you dare.
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
Up until this week I had it up for sale for $500 bucks with no bites on it since August. I thought that was fair for a clean title car even if it was rough and not complete. Not for sale any more, just ordered a firewall power brake setup for it!
alpspooter@reddit
Will pay the 500. Plus new parts cost if you change your mind at any time. Cheers.

Hell yeah
CommanderKrieger@reddit
Awesome. It’ll be cool once she’s all put together and your daughter and you can enjoy it on the roads.
koochiekoo@reddit
Please don't scrap that! 🙏 My Grandfather had the same car.
Loose_Examination178@reddit
That's so cool y'all are getting it back on the road. With that drive train it should be super reliable. Good luck and please keep posting
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
I'm kinda excited about the idea of a straight 6. Wish I had an OD trans but I wanna keep costs down.
tk8398@reddit
Keep an eye out for a GMC 270, when those were newer that was a popular swap. Split exhaust manifold or headers make it sound cooler too.
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
I had a Chevy 261 out of a dump.truck I wanted to put in my 1930 Chevy but I ended up sending that project down the road.
Loose_Examination178@reddit
Maybe down the road y'all will be able to get a junkyard OD in her. Probably get 30mpg
RCMike_CHS@reddit
Probably one the best engines I've ever had in a car: '69 250 I6 in my '67 Biscayne. It'd do 110 all day.
bluenosesutherland@reddit
Her future drag week car.

Its beautiful
Various-Head7803@reddit
Where are you from?
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
I'm in Vegas now, picked up the car when I was living in Colorado.
FlanCharacter3878@reddit
looks like way up north off the 215 Northern Beltway
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
A lil bit further north. I keep it up at my dad's house up by Death Valley. A bit of a pain to work on, planning on one weekend a month, but plenty of the room for car projects. My garage here in Vegas is full of half finished bikes.
FlanCharacter3878@reddit
Best wishes to you and your CarGirl with the project, hope there will be a many cherished memories for the two of you
rezwrrd@reddit
Good for you and good for your daughter! I hope I still have energy for projects when my kids are that age. They really like to sit in my project car and pretend to drive but I've hardly had time or energy to actually do anything to it while they're young. I'm trying to introduce them gently with stuff like helping me change headlight bulbs, and encourage an understanding of how the different parts of the car work.
FilthyRatchet@reddit
Please don’t scrap it! If she stops showing interest and hit me up! I absolutely love old cars.
gearhead454@reddit
Any thing with wheels will make your daughter swoon. Get her a used Toyota in a nice bright color and a couple of 10mm wrenches. Teach her something she can use later in life.
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
Her primary car will be the little Fiat Abarth I picked up last month as a cheap daily. She just loves old cars and cried when I sold my 1930 last year. Last week she asked if we could drag this one out of storage and build it up together so I'm happy to oblige.
FlanCharacter3878@reddit
So cool to be Dad to a CarGirl....
Ornery_Army2586@reddit
Dont you dare sell or scrap that precious childs father daughter project. A well tuned straight six, a th350, and if its just gonna go short distances I’d install prob some 4.10’s just to let it scoot about town with some urgency for the young gal!
ChemistAdventurous84@reddit
As a girl Dad who couldn’t get his kids interested in any DIY, I’m jealous. You’re about to build a special relationship with her. Congrats.
WorkingBread8360@reddit
Our foster daughter “had to have” my 92 K1500 Z71… Truck was 12 years older than her. She learned really quickly that a hotrodded V8 and a 4spd auto were more than she could handle. Wanted my 4cyl Ranger, but, scared of the 5spd manual… 😂
SCAMMERASSASIN007@reddit
Nice man throw a m90 blower on it for her and send her. Best part about the whole thing is the bonding time.
hedge-core@reddit (OP)
Don't tempt me any more, I already spend too much time on the Aussie Speed website...
EC_CO@reddit
as a Mopar Slant 6 owner, I feel that from here ...
I ended up going with Offenhauser and Clifford instead, but those long runner intakes were so darn tempting if it wasn't for the price
Mil-wookie@reddit
Gfb and haltech are other fun aussie sites.
Being 50s though, simple is nice. Can tune carbs and just drive it.
RileyDream@reddit
As a 21 year old trying his hardest to find a 50-56 ford/chevy 2 door, I beg you please do not scrap this thing. If your daughter loses interest, make another one and hope she catches on.
