5070 or 5070ti with market prices

Hello, I can have a 5070 for 600, but the 5070ti is minimum about 90p or 300 of differences.
What do you recommend? Many people talk about the lack of VRAM, so I'm stressed. Thank you
vtGaem@reddit
9070xt is ~700€ usually. What do you do? If you mostly play multiplayer games, no RT, it'll perform like the 5070ti.
guizounours@reddit (OP)
I've never liked AMD, I'm really happy with Nvidia every time. And I use DLSS a lot in particular
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
In this economy, it’s a great time to start liking AMD and an 9070 XT lol
You use DLSS because you don’t currently have enough GPU power for the FPS you want? With a 9070 XT you get so much power I wonder if you’ll even need FSR4
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Always preferred Nvidia for its software support, drivers, RT technologies and DLSS that practically changes my immersion
SellsWhiteStuff@reddit
I’ve always used nvidia but the 50 series drivers have been terrible.
souicry@reddit
Nvidia drivers have been mediocre in last few months. The bug causing -20% in some part of Resident Evil Requiem took them over a month to fix.
ChocolateNeat4489@reddit
They have been mediocre and hit & miss for well over a year, closer to 2. I sold my RTX 3070 almost a year ago and I still managed to experience a good deal of their "surprises". The only people complaining of Adrenaline are those who use Nvidia :)
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
5070ti is just 14% faster in Ray Tracing at 1440p than a 9070 XT. The gap isn’t as big as it used to be.
This generation, Nvidia has had the shit drivers honestly
Cleenred@reddit
Till you're stuck with FSR4 when FSR5 comes out lol. You can look at the 9070xt today and call it a better value and I'd probably agree with you. But when the time comes in a few short years with the probable dlss6 release and reflex2, you'll bite your nails for sticking with AMD. A 2060 supports dlss 4.5, a 7900XTX doesn't even support FSR4. And we know very well with how slow hardware progresses these days that features are now the name of the game.
coolboy856@reddit
Then you'll have the money you saved by going with AMD and you sell your 9070XT to buy a better Nvidia card?
OnlyEstablishment243@reddit
Do you really need frame gen? They can run 1440p native very well. RT gap is not particularly big. If you’re not doing productivity work there’s really no reason to go for Nvidia at such a price. Your money though.
mitchymitchington@reddit
Just got my 9070xt and I use fsr and frame gen just so I can finally check out path tracing for myself.
vtGaem@reddit
I've been always running Nvidia so far but because of their AI nonsense and AMD having a decent run this gen, I decided to jump ship.
I use FSR 3 or 4 in all the games I used to use DLSS in. Looks pretty much the same. Shimmering that used to be in one bush is instead in another bush type difference.
Maybe the only annoyance I've been having is hotspot temps in the 90's, but then again I used to have a card that didn't have a hotspot sensor at all. So the reality of my situation might not have changed, I'm now just aware of it.
AcrobaticNetwork5918@reddit
Depends on your setup. Do you do 1080p and 1440p? What kind of frames per second do you want.
12GB of VRAM is fine for most 1440p experiences. You only push that if you want high-fidelity in VR or are doing 4K.
guizounours@reddit (OP)
I would aim for a maximum of 1440, never 4k
AcrobaticNetwork5918@reddit
Then 5070 will work fine. No need to push your budget further.
Hollow3ddd@reddit
Def worth the price these days for what it does. Going one step up gets crazy price wise.

guizounours@reddit (OP)
Thank you very much, always a kind community here.
naturtok@reddit
I've got a 3070 and it does 1440p for most games at mid-high settings at near or above 100fps, so 5070 should do you a-ok
Specialist_Web7115@reddit
I was bumping up against it so switched to a 16gb 9070xt. I use Linux and drivers just worked.
TallAssociate7214@reddit
If u r tryna play the latest games at ultra settings at high fps then the 5070 ti is the card to get. Lots of overclock room, u can get it up to 5080 performance.
I have a 5070 ti myself and plays any game u throw at it at 100+ fps ultra 1440p. Only game that sits in the 80s is cyberpunk with max RT no path tracing tho that shit tanks fps way too much
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Personally, I want AAA at 60fps minimum, not need to pay 140 fps and + except in competition
TallAssociate7214@reddit
The 5070 would prob be enough then few games might dip in the 50s before dlss but only the very intense games. Watch a few benchmarks comparing the two. It will help a lot in your decision
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Thank you very much, what scares me is this debate 12 vs 16gb of VRAM
TallAssociate7214@reddit
U r fine for now and atleast a few more years. 5070 ti is more for future proofing 3-4 years down the line
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Do you think I could keep my 5070 for at least 3 years?
TallAssociate7214@reddit
Definitely. U may have to sacrifice some fps or settings down the line in higher end titles but u will be fine for a few years atleast
thingsinmyjeep@reddit
I actually went from the 12gb 3080 to the regular 5070. At 1440p I can count on one hand the number of times that a game has required more than nine'ish gigs.
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Same, that's why I don't understand this debate about VRAM. Even my 3060ti I've never had vram leaks
Big-Passage9824@reddit
Also using this card. The max RT at 80ish fps in Cyberpunk is also without any DLSS. Thing is a beast.
wubbadubdub_zzz@reddit
12gb is enough for most games. Firstly, benchmarks are done at max settings. You can lower it.
ReasonableNetwork255@reddit
it may affect how many detail settings you can max without issue .. but its not going to in any way stop you from gaming .. deoends on if you want to pay for that 'next level' ..
guizounours@reddit (OP)
For me it's clearly not worth 300 euros more
ReasonableNetwork255@reddit
depends how into the hardware you are imo, and possibly if your competitive it may make a difference ..for me the ti is cool to have, but at 1440 im sure id be doing exactly what im doing right now gaming with the plain 70 ..
guizounours@reddit (OP)
I think the same, I'm thinking of looking at the 5070 as well. Is the €600 tariff fair or a scam?
ReasonableNetwork255@reddit
the 5070/ti is cutting edge ..for all the negative talk on its frame gen features, the performance it delivers is real, and very good at this point .. so yeah, its worth it ..
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Okay! and what do you think about VRAM's 12 vs 16gb debate? What is your opinion on it?
deeznutz133769@reddit
12GB at 1440p is almost never going to be an issue other than maybe 2-3 games on ultra settings with very specific things turned on, or unless you're running a ton of apps that eat VRAM (for example if I don't turn stuff off, discord / windows / chrome / wallpaper engine and a few other things eat 5-6GB alone.).
FOr 4k I would definitely recommend 16GB minimum, but as long as you're sticking to 1440p you are good, likely for quite a few years.
ReasonableNetwork255@reddit
well, its sold like if you dont have enough vram a game wont work right .. this isnt the case .. games typically sense your hardware and adjust their settings to work automatically ... very few if any games need more than 8 to run, but if youre trying to run higher details and quality settings some games can need 12-16 to flow textures nice and smooth .. id say very few need more than 12 and many games will still have texture pop-ins and anomalies with more than enough vram, so .. i wouldnt worry about 12vram at all myself ..
Mravac_Kid@reddit
Considering that even the 5060Ti has exceeded 500 Euro, 600 for a 5070 doesn't sound like excessive. It was 520 when I was upgrading, I went for a 9070 for 560 instead because I woved never again to buy a card with less than comfortable VRAM. :)
GatesTech@reddit
With QHD, you're perfectly fine with the 5070, especially with the desired FPS range you mentioned. When there are issues in the future, sell it and upgrade. Nvidia cards also hold their value better. Not to say that the 9070 XT is a bad buy, though.
Leggo213@reddit
If you can deal with 1080, the 5070 is solid. That’s my setup personally
guizounours@reddit (OP)
QHD on my side
Leggo213@reddit
I would say the 5070 ti then
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Why is the 5070 not powerful enough for QHD?
Leggo213@reddit
I should’ve specified that obviously the 5070 can but in terms of future proofing and heavy intensive games the extra headroom with the vram on the TI will go a little further in the long run. But depending on the processor you could go with the 5070 for 1440
damien24101982@reddit
always get best gpu you CAN afford.
karmapopsicle@reddit
5070 is a substantially better value for your money. The question is really how meaningful that 300 euro difference is to you personally. If it’s just a couple weeks of your spare disposable income, even though the raw performance increase isn’t massive I think you’d be happy about having the extra VRAM and performance over the next few years.
guizounours@reddit (OP)
For once, this price difference seems huge to me. Knowing that I was already happy with my 3060ti just because I switched to QHD
AdstaOCE@reddit
9070XT.
forevertired1982@reddit
9070xt if prices are anything like the UK,
9070xt i bought for £579 the cheapest 5070ti is £800,
Its virtually identical rasterisation performance and pretty close RT performance,
Dont pay the £200+ nvidia tax.
Hugs98118@reddit
30% performance difference roughly, for 50% more €.
5070 is closer to msrp.
Bigger question might be what your goal is. What resolution/fps is the goal? What games or future games? Is it all AAAs, a mix, etc?
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Aiming for 1440p with DLSS + RT with mixed use;) as long as I exceed 60 - 80 fps that suits me.
NotChillyEnough@reddit
At those prices, I'd go with either the 5070 or an AMD card (9070, or 9070XT).
As far as VRAM is concerned, 12 GB is good for now, and will likely remain sufficient for a reasonable amount of time. It's only the 8 GB cards that running into VRAM problems.
guizounours@reddit (OP)
Note! Because I think the 300 differences are not really justified.
