Got into an argument with a yard dog today

Parked on the street to check in so I could drop my trailer yard dog pulls up and starts yelling “don’t you see the no parking signs!”
I told him when you see a no jaywalking sign and the nearest crosswalk is a block down the road do you just walk across or go down the whole block?
He got mad and drove off🤣

I wouldn't call that an argument. He was just being nice.
Ive parked in a spot like that, walk in to check in and 15min later when I came back out... there was a cop giving me a ticket
rustlervxl98@reddit
Well shit.. I must be the nicest yard dog i know since I'm pretty professional to out carriers 😂

Yard jockeys getting paid MORE than otr drivers
SkintagK@reddit
Yes I am by alot, my DC just put CR England in charge of delivering our groceries, they pay city drivers mileage pay and stop pay...17$ per stop, they need to run out their clock each week to come close to my pay, I work 40hrs per week 3 1/2 days...absolutely love it

Well then obviously they ain't pushing hard enough

I dealt with one being a jackass just this week. Their yard layout was subtarded, all spots at a 45 degree angle in rows in opposite directions across from each other with nowhere near enough room between the rows so your setup had to be perfect or you were fucked. On top of this it was one of those shitholes where you have to slide your tandems back at the entrance because God forbid a yard dog have to get out of his shitty little midgemong and pull a handle or a button and slide them himself so it completely changes how you have to setup and back. I screwed up my setup and messed up my back and got myself into a situation where I had to slide the tandems forward to get out of it, and the dickhead materialized out of thin air - after he had already blown past me one time earlier without honking or flashing his lights and almost hit my truck - and started talking to me like a complete shithead because I slid my tandems forward. I apologized and played it cool but I really wanted to pop the brakes and ask him who he was talking to like that and if he wanted to hold my hand while we danced in the grass.
I don't know what it is about being a yard dog but in my experience everyone that does it is either a total prick cunt jackass or the chillest person ever and there's no inbetween.

The pissy ones like that can’t even comprehend that every single damn yard is entirely different with different rules and expectations. I have never been to the yard before so all I can do is my best with the amalgamation of knowledge of general best practices for yards.
Redithyrambler@reddit
Except your example is more like stopping in the middle of the street to tie your shoes.
bentstrider83@reddit
Tired of yard dogs thinking they're security too. Pick a lane, Jack.
Redithyrambler@reddit
Spoken like someone who's totally oblivious to the people cleaning up their mess.
HowlingWolven@reddit
I defer to my userflair, but you come into my house, you follow my house rules.
bentstrider83@reddit
I'm just jerking you with that. I'll follow the rules and just internalize the butt-hurt. I'm too much of pussy to be a rebel. I'm more likely to croak from a heart attack due to holding it all in. Or massively diarrhea myself.
socialrage@reddit
You haven't seen it when the spotters aren't proactive about stuff, I take it.
When it gets where otr drivers park wherever they want it makes the spotters job a lot harder.
bentstrider83@reddit
I just try to stay out of their way and do what yard rules state. I've only run into issues recently with a yard guy at the Hutchinson KS Kroger dropping a milk tanker. Of course this issue had to do with backing into a tight spot in a high traffic path. Crossing over onto a piece of concrete that was supposedly not finished.
But there's a backlog of unloaded tankers and not enough spaces. About as corny as trying to park fighter jets on a crowded Carrier. backs F18 into ocean
socialrage@reddit
We had an order selector that got her leg crushed between two power workers and had an ambulance coming in.
Well the assholes that couldn't see the 5 feet high sign on the building that has "no parking in front of building" for this exact reason blocked the ambulance from going the direct way to the door.
It always starts with one, then it grows to 10.
bentstrider83@reddit
Too much risk with these large vehicles. I've been doing it 16 years and my confidence never improves. How some of these other drivers just don't suck it up and just quit when they get home is beyond me.
Of course they probably don't doom scroll poverty finance or broke subreddits like I do.
TruckerDono@reddit
And then the next 3 guys had to wait in the road like Jack assess while your slow ass hobbled back in the truck after going back and forth 4 times because you forgot your ID, didn't know your dot # and tag trying to check in instead of just, IDK, pulling to the correct place, reading the sign, and walking 10 more feet.
theboywthagreenscarf@reddit
Just because that’s what you do, does mean it’s what everyone else does.
Redithyrambler@reddit
As a yard jockey, most of the OTR drivers do this or similarly inconsiderate things.
ignoreme010101@reddit
there are norms at any particular facility. It is almost always possible to live park in such way as to be more convenient for you at the expense of gumming things up for everyone else. If anyone from the facility is calling you out then you are in the wrong lol this isn't rocket science
ignoreme010101@reddit
this. I park hot ALL THE TIME, facilities often needing you to park illegal like side or middle of road to check-in and wait for dock, but if the yard dog disapproved then yeah it was wrong.
Was at a c&s last week and couldn't go to my dock because some a-hole just live parked in middle of the yard. As I was waiting others were trying to get off their docks and couldn't. Dumbass finally came out and moved and there were 3-4 waiting on him. All because he was too lazy to back into a spot 50-100' away. Fucker.
See this shit all.the.time. If a jockey is pissed you are almost certainly being a jackass.
HowlingWolven@reddit
Don’t fuck with the shunts, they hold grudges.

tell him to act his wage
potatocross@reddit
Ours get paid the same as drivers. Because they are all drivers.
ignoreme010101@reddit
you say that like it's self evident all drivers are equally skilled, critical, replaceable etc and thus deserve equal pay, am not at all sure i see the logic but yeah they're drivers for sure [edit- do you even need a CDL to drive jockey/yard dog?]
truckerslady59@reddit
My husband is a yard dog and yes, he has to have a CDL. He was OTR for 12 years and makes more as a yard dog than he ever did OTR.
potatocross@reddit
I don’t think you understand what I am saying. All of our jockeys are drivers. Their ‘route’ is working the yard. We can bid a route or the yard. We get paid the same no matter which we do.
ignoreme010101@reddit

ignoreme010101@reddit
that was the perfect reply lol so perfect I cannot help wonder if that's actually just what you thought you shoulda said as you walked away from him 🤣
Cardinal_350@reddit
Pissing off our yard dog is a sure fire way to make you rot at the Wal Mart down the road if your an outside carrier
