Thoughts on Nicaragua?

Looking to live outside the city. I would love to be in Costa Rica, but it’s too expensive. And Colombia is not safe in rural areas. I want a small farm in the mountains. Panama is also nice but probably also out of my price range.

I am no Nicaragua expert but since no one else has responded, Nicaragua has been on a “Level 3 - Reconsider Travel” by the US State Department for a while now because of authoritarian tendencies, arbitrary enforcement of laws, and crime. I get that the US doesn’t have the credibility it once did but I’d still heed that advice.
