Not exactly how I would have started, but not horrible. But hey you know what they say piss with the cock ya got.
Take a class for sure. Start with .38 special loads as opposed to .357 magnum loads. Not that .357 is super unbearable recoil-wise, but as a new shooter shooting .357 mag loads is a good way to develop a flinch which will take a bit to train out and overcome. .38 specials will feel like a mouse fart in comparison.
Otherwise just shoot as much as possible. A class to get the fundamentals down is a great start to build off of. Start at shorter ranges and slowly work your way further and further out. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Not that you have to get rid of that gun, but you'd probably have an easier time learning on a 9mm semi-auto. Especially since ammo is vastly cheaper compared to .38 and .357 (9mm is probably the cheapest center fire pistol caliber there is) which means more practice. Revolvers have a bit of a learning curve especially if you're using that one in double action (long, heavy trigger pull). Not to say you can't learn with it, people have been doing it forever. I just think there's better options in the modern era.

It’s probably a little more difficult to find one with a revolver, but take a class. Better to be instructed correctly from the giddy up than have to be corrected later.
