im a agricultural mechanic not a truck mechanic
which is fill and which is the level plug. there is 3 plugs.
the one lower in the picture id imagine to be way low for diff oil, but if not a level plug why is it there at all. plus it needs a goofy 5 sided bit to remove
at the same time the fill and or level plug up higher seems way high
id assume the top plug is the level and fill plug but thought I better check

You need the fluid level to be high enough to reach the outer wheel bearings (and bottom of pinion bearing on some models), flowing outward on both sides beside the axle shafts, so the fill plug will be slightly below half way, allowing the fluid level to be high enough. I believe those hold just over 10 gallons, iirc.

The lower plug is there for a optional sending unit for a temperature gauge.

Top one is fill/level.
That one in the middle in your pic is where a different temp sensor would go

The one with the big metal disk is the fill line/port.
