I haven't been driving super long and was wondering, are there many truly helpful apps for truck drivers? what feature do you wish existed? I want something to keep track of my receipts and do my taxes, lol.

Been helping my uncle with back office stuff. The manual filing and stuff is killing me. I saw this app called heyruby.tech I tried it, it’s pretty cool. Helps tracking pod bol receipts and makes IFTA reports. Seems like it’s still pretty new.
Loves app my uncle uses Discord/Facebook for meeting other truckers

Thanks! That is helpful!

TruckerPath for truck parking, weigh stations, and Walmarts. Multiple weather apps: Weather Channel, Weather Underground, Windy. X for up-to-the-minute road conditions updates by highway patrol or state DOT. All of the truck stop chains have apps for showers and rewards. Road conditions apps, especially Wyoming511. iHeartRadio for podcasts. The Red Cross 'Emergency' app has a tornado siren that will definitely wake you up if there is a tornado warning nearby. It could save your life.

Didn't know about the Red Cross App, that is useful.

Just read some of the reviews and the tornado function has a lot of negative comments. Not sure how useful it is. There might be other apps that work better.
jderflinger@reddit
Thanks, I did not check it out yet.

Weigh My Truck for CAT scales.

I use Hammer for backup GPS, garmin is a sketchy bastard. WeighMyTruck for Cat scales,
SheepherderHopeful55@reddit
I loved hammer when it was free, now they charge $5 a month unfortunately
bourbonpens@reddit
Yeah but it works better for me than truckerpath. Gotta have something

Trucker Path is useful in a lot of ways.
I like Lizardr to help find girlfriends.
brandmonkey@reddit
Lol is that a real app 😂 I've been out here almost 4 months and haven't seen a single lot lizard. I'm starting to think it's an urban legend
Odd-Fuel-9002@reddit
Its 2026 you have to get on list crawler and uber one to your truck big dog
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
Alas no, my friend. I'm fucking with OP. 😁
FrYoungtrad@reddit
Nonetheless, the etymology of "Lizardr" merits discussion sir
brandmonkey@reddit

a lot of people use truckerpath
it’s alright. hit or miss
For taxes and stuff quickbooks is alright
brandmonkey@reddit
Truckerpath is only worth it if you pay for the subscription imo. I didn't get much use out of the free version.
Ricemunchr@reddit
trucker path served me really good when i needed a place to park all the poi’s helped for truck stops at least, the parking ones you’d have to double check and read the views other drivers leave. sometimes it ends up being a truck dealer and you can’t park there.
i pay $25/mo for the routing which hasn’t really failed me yet so i think it’s worth it still.
XiangJiang@reddit
I only use the free version and it’s worth it to me.

I had a deal that I would run the recipt through like a scanner. My wife bought it of QVC or similar. And when I got home I loaded it in the PC. As well as the physical receipts for tax purposes. The sliding scale app is great for the new guys. Setting for scales in different states was always a pain. Good luck in your career. Be safe and I wish you my 35 years otr. Its a learning journey everyday. If you know it all........Become a dispatcher. LOL.
brandmonkey@reddit
I pay for Trucker Paths subscription, it helps me a lot when my old model Garmin wants to send me down sketchy roads or can't find the address. It's also helpful finding parking. I'll use the Garmin most of the way, then out on trucker path too when I get close to the city.
Find a Scat Cat app is helpful to not only find scales but to find small mom and pop truck stops that may have parking when others are full.
MyRadar for weather. I put the radar up on my phone when I know I'm gonna hit rough weather to see when I'm gonna hit it or if I should change my path.
sixbysix33@reddit (OP)
Cool, thanks! I've got a couple apps to check out.

Truckers Slide Calc is great for helping with tandem adjustment, Drive Weather and or Highway Weather are great for trip planning to avoid inclement weather
