Corsair or Seasonic for PSU's

Since i'm planning to build a PC, I have been on debates whether or not i should go for either a Corsair or Seasonic for PSU's. On my other post, I've talked about how I think Seasonic is better than Corsair's because of what the employers say when I went to Micro Center. One other user disagrees what the employer says because they think that the people who work at the tech store are not experts, there people selling things and may be giving potentially bad advice at times, don't know what there talking about, they're not required to get an education and thinks I'm blind into believing what the employers say instead of just simply doing my research.
What do you guys think which company is a better PSU? Let me know.

Curious why just those two? And those who state that "most who work at tech stores are not really experts" are correct. I have sent many into a panic when discussing products.
There are folks who like Superflower, even before they quit doing OEM for others and started to market their own units.(Well except the the Zillion units they have Zhong Yuan build..those belong in a scrap pile). Great Wall makes some excellent units as does CWT. And, as noted, all make some duds.
SCTwisted@reddit
Seasonic are an OEM brand, they made a lot of the Corsair, ASUS, and EVGA PSUs, not sure if they still do. Personally i have only ever used Seasonic and have never had a single one fail.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Seasonic does not make any of Corsair's PSUs and currently does not make any of Asus or EVGA's PSUs either.
Popular-Analysis-127@reddit
Seasonic currently makes Asus ROG PSUs, and used to make units for Corsair many years ago (e.g. AX series).
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
"Many years ago". Yes. The AX. Then reasons and Corsair never went back to them again.
And the Asus ROG Thor is the only one made by Seasonic and I'm pretty sure that's EOL now. The Strix and TUF are Great Wall and the Aura is CWT.
People have stopped using Seasonic as an ODM because they stopped being a reliable ODM.
ADB225@reddit
Actually one of the Strix (Gold) was a Seasonic contraption. The Thor Platinum III, released last year, was the last Seasonic. The Titanium units are Wentai and the Priime Bronze is an embarrassment for CWT.
Popular-Analysis-127@reddit
Oh shit, it's the man himself. Respect.
No-Actuator-6245@reddit
Both make PSU’s ranging from mediocre quality all the way up to the best you can get. Seasonic does have a couple of models that are poor but are not actually made by them but have their name on. Bottom line you have to compare specific models, it’s pointless comparing the 2 brands alone.
Distinct-Incident115@reddit (OP)
I know that, but It's just that the people who work at Micro Center thinks that Seasonic is a better option that Corsairs.
That_Guy848@reddit
Employees.
Distinct-Incident115@reddit (OP)
Got ya.
AntMiserable6610@reddit
Really depends. What wattage you looking at and budget for one? Then recommendations on either company can be made with this info. Both are excellent companies with long warranties so we need to narrow down what kind of build you're looking at for the proper psu
Distinct-Incident115@reddit (OP)
850w for a 5070 Ti.
AntMiserable6610@reddit
For 850w both are excellent so it would come down to the price you're willing to spend. Corsair rm850x and the Montech Century II 850w by seasonic are pretty equal in price, quality, and tier so honestly getting either brand is fine
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
LOLOLOL! The Montech Century II is NOT made by Seasonic. And it is NOT equal in quality to the RM850x. WOW!
The Montech Century II is a cost down version of the original Titan Gold.
The Century II is made by Shenzhen Xinweiye Technology as opposed to CWT. It uses Chinese Wayon MOSFETs from Wayon and Maplesemi for the LLC and APFC as opposed to the Infineon MOSFETs the Titan used to use.
Please research before advising.
AntMiserable6610@reddit
I got the century and titan mixed up. Bad mixup. Montech TITAN is by seasonic which is more expensive and high quality. Century is an A- good budget but yes, not seasonic. Seasonic focus is at 850w but is usuaaly more expensive than corsair
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Just the Titan Platinum. The Titan Gold was made by CWT.
AntMiserable6610@reddit
Ye the plat. Excellent psu especially for a white build just expensive
number8888@reddit
Why debate? Just get a PSU from the tier list and move on. Brand loyalty is just silly.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Mustang or Camaro? ;-)
Eero73@reddit
Hi there, Router ero from the SPL PSU Tier List
Depends on the model. We can't go by brand.
Seasonic has had a downfall in the last 2-3years.
psimwork@reddit
Yep. Drives me up the wall when someone selects a perfectly decent model and someone will be like, "I don't know that brand. Grab anything from Corsair."
jhaluska@reddit
Can you explain the downfall? Any models to avoid?
Eero73@reddit
Hi!
Mainly the recent Focus GX series. Can't tell how Focus V5 will perform yet.
Rictor_Scale@reddit
I used to exclusively use Seasonic power supplies and was happy to pay a little more. After I got burned in their OCP-tripping fiasco and effectively flushed $1500 down the toilet I switched back to Corsair. Even when lower power rated vs Seasonic they've always worked perfectly for me.
Beneficial-Ranger238@reddit
I’ve got Seasonic in my main gaming rig, Corsair and evga in the rest. I have even had a bomb tier Corsair last over 10 years, but it was on 65w cpu with no gpu duty so it didn’t have a hard life.
If you buy a good model of either, you will be happy and get many years out of them.
beedunc@reddit
Buy the Corsair X series. Will last a lifetime.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Do you mean RMx?
beedunc@reddit
Yes, that’s a better way to put it. Meaning - Not the RMe’s - RMx. Uses better capacitors.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Well.. there's more to it than capacitors... Nothing wrong with the capacitors, really. "Japanese" capacitors ispre of a marketing thing than anything.
beedunc@reddit
When it’s the capacitors that are the main reason of failure, I stand by my recommendation.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
But it's not the capacitors that are the main reason for failure and I know you don't have the data that says otherwise.
Cyserg@reddit
As some said, both have golden psu and average that shouldn't be considered.
I have both brands : a seasonic focus 850w and a corsair sf850.
Now, depends on power and the size. If you wish to go sf /sfx corsair is the one, the seasonic sfx aren't certified/updated since 3 years ago.
Check the mod exact and reviews - LTT labs has a psu channel, if you wish.
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
You need to be more specific. What you're asking is like, "who makes a better faucet? Moen or Delta?" when each company makes about a dozen different faucets with a dozen different features. Same is true with PSUs. Each company has a plethora of products to fit a multitude of price points and customer's needs.
If you walk into a store and the person behind the counter says "Brand A is better than Brand B" without any kind of context, walk away from that person. They're what you call a "brand zealot". Like people that argue Ford vs. Chevy. They're not worth your time.
djtodd242@reddit
Duh. Moen. Buy it for looks, Buy it for life.
(why do I remember that?)
jonnyGURUgerow@reddit
Pretty sure they paid an ad agency millions for that.
