Coin pocket for coins…?
Posted by Just-Eddie83@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 99 comments
So we all know the “coin” pocket we have on our pants / shorts. It’s the little pocket 90% of the time on the right side. Since coins are a thing of the past. I personally use that pocket to hold my car remote. It’s a square remote so it fits fine. Just the car remote no house keys.
my question to the hoard is do you use that pocket?
What do you use it for?
englishpatrick2642@reddit
No joke, I'm very superstitious. I keep two silver dollars in there in case I die when I'm out of the house. I wanna make sure I have enough to pay Chiron for the boat ride
_WillCAD_@reddit
I keep my Leatherman in mine.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
Are you referring to the built in Zippo lighter holster? 😂
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
You still use a zippo!? Crazy
Famous_Attention5861@reddit
I used a zippo I received at my friend's wedding 25 years age to light my stove the other day when the power was out. It was completely dry of fluid but the flint had just enough spark for me to get the burner lit.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
I don’t carry them anymore but they were a must-have in like high school onward into my 30s. I only have one now and it stays at home (plus a couple of collectible ones that have never been lit)
kanakamaoli@reddit
I worked in a navy shipyard and would visit the ship stores to buy momentos like zippos with ship crests on them.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
Oddly enough, the guy who got me going on Zippos was my best friend’s older brother (essentially my surrogate big brother in a lot of ways) when he came home from? Serving in the Navy! First one I ever used had his boat’s numbers & name on it
HopelesslyHuman@reddit
This was my thought. I didn't even smoke when I started carrying a Zippo. I just thought they were cool.
Growing up where they were made didn't hurt.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
At like 19 I was such a geek over them I visited the museum, ok? Now to be clear this was a stop on an existing road trip; but I volunteered to drive the trip ONLY if I got to add about 2 hours to the drive home 😂 and yes my friends gave me shit about wanting to visit a MUSEUM lol
castlenutjob@reddit
I've been to a Kazoo museum and it was awesome.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
In my travels, the best one I went to was an 18th century tavern in Maine (which was part of Massachusetts during the revolutionary war) where the first successful naval victory against Britain was planned. In Machias ME
HopelesslyHuman@reddit
It's a really cool little place. Lots of important American history of the 20th tied up in Zippos.
Moist_Rule9623@reddit
I’ve read all about it lol. And the guys I was traveling with actually enjoyed it too; but at first it was definitely a “we’re doing WHAT???” 🤣
elonmusktheturd22@reddit
Pretty sure thats not a coin pocket, it was designed for a watch. Pocket watches on a chain fit perfect in that small pocket. I used to have a 1920s gold plated Elgin watch, 17 jewel wind up, kept it in that pocket until my parents broke into my house and stole it while i was away for a week. I then carried a cheap $10 battery pocket watch from walkmart. Haven't carried a watch in years but those pants pockets were for watches. I'm probably one of the few weirdos my age who preferred a pocket watch over a wrist watch (xennial).
Anyway, probably should have had an onion on my belt while i was at it lol.
Dantez9001@reddit
The belt onion has gone out of fashion (but it's going to make a comeback!) Back when people started getting smart watches, I told them I had a smart pocket watch, I then proceeded to pull out my phone.
TheTxoof@reddit
My car gets 40 rods to the hogs head and that's the way I like it!
The metric system is a tool of the devil!
somecoolname42@reddit
You mean the watch pocket? A mini bic lighter, two $40 in cash for emergencies, and two gold sovereigns for catastrophes.
No-Assignment6685@reddit
2 forty dollar bills? You really were prepared for anything.
TheTxoof@reddit
Found the redditor from another timeline.
somecoolname42@reddit
I ment 2 $20s to make $40.
Automatic-Pick-2481@reddit
A gummy or two for later
FlyingAnvils@reddit
Carry my pocket knife there as long as it’s deep enough.
Annhl8rX@reddit
I don’t use it for anything. Not all pants have it, and I don’t depend on anything that isn’t consistent.
For a short time, though, I had a little fixed blade knife I carried in there. It only worked with that one particular knife and whatever specific jeans I was wearing at that time. The sheath was just small enough to fit, and just big enough to be wedged I. There tight enough I could pull the knife without the sheath coming out.
I thought it was a cool setup, but I still always carried my regular knife in my back pocket (again, because I always have a back pocket. I never used the little fixed blade, so I scrapped the idea after a couple of weeks or so.
No-Assignment6685@reddit
This guy knifes
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
Growing up in Texas that was where everybody kept their pocket knives. If I carry one today, that’s still where I put it. Usually it’s a multitool now though.
ken830@reddit
You still have a car remote?
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
If you are referring to driving one of Elons toys yes a key fob. I’m middle class I don’t have a all electric vehicle
ken830@reddit
For most people, a Model 3 is cheaper to own than a Camry.
idio242@reddit
Drugs.
DingbattheGreat@reddit
Nope.
No idea what this “coin pocket” you are referring to.
There is, however, the fifth pocket made to hold a pocket watch.
Professional_Scale66@reddit
Nickels and dimes lol
Rhapdodic_Wax11235@reddit
It’s a watch pocket- not a coin pocket. Pocket watches “went out” years ago and the pocket is still there.
Super_Fa_Q@reddit
Listerine strips.
ButterscotchAware402@reddit
My dad always joked it was for boogers. I used to use it for drugs. Now I use it for ibuprofen.
SpoonFullOfSugar1111@reddit
I used to use it for drugs. I still use it for drugs, but I used to too.
seanie_rocks@reddit
Still technically drugs so you're still cool.
ButterscotchAware402@reddit
I have never been hip, nor have I been with it but if you guys think I'm cool I'll take it
IcyForecast@reddit
Only a seriously cool cat can be so eloquent in his denial of the reality that tells the tale of a person who is aware of butterscotch, but unaware of the presence he commands. And that is why we all know that, he has always been hip, he is with it more than it is with, and he just reaches out and takes whatever he wants, because he's just that cool
marmot1101@reddit
Home for the booger sugar? But yeah, it was the perfect size for a quarter of brick weed
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
Wow what a great idea
More-read-than-eddit@reddit
That’s the cocaine pocket for most ppl
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
I need to be friends with those people
Mind-of-Jaxon@reddit
Used to put my carb fob in there. But everyone harassed me about not having it connected to my house keys
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
You don’t need negativity in your life. My car fob fits perfectly and my house can be unlocked by code or my fingerprint so I don’t “need” more keys.
cmiller0513@reddit
Vape pocket
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
That small of a vape?
EarlBeforeSwine@reddit
2 questions:
1) Do you mean the watch pocket?
2) in what way are coins “a thing of the past?”
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
It was originally intended for a pocket watch on a chain. And I’m a dad, so I never have cash let alone coins.
BookMan78@reddit
My house keys on a Disney keychain my Mom got me years ago
mc1rmutant_@reddit
I use it for my pocket watch
JustFiguringItOutToo@reddit
I did until my first cell phone
scizzix@reddit
Yes, "coin pocket" is a misnomer, the pocket was designed to hold a pocket watch for easy access and safety from other items you may have in your pocket. Since pocket watches fell out of fashion people use it for other things.
fer_sure@reddit
That's what it's actually for. Good on you for upholding tradition.
YogurtclosetDull2380@reddit
Usually a vape cart or an addy. Depending on the size I'll put my earbuds in there but it's mostly drug related.
Daylight-Silence@reddit
That is and has always been the guitar pick pocket
star_b_nettor@reddit
I carry the miniature emergency meds container in it.
EvenLettuce6638@reddit
I used it for a pocket watch in high school.
Salty-Tea6815@reddit
This was a lousy design for a “coin pocket”. How are you supposed to dig coins out of a pocket that barely fits two fingers in it??!!
grunkle_dan78@reddit
well since I'm a big fat American, my coin pocket in my work pants is large. I use it to carry a stash of disposable gloves while I'm working.
abbydabbydo@reddit
I’ve never used it for anything. It rides right on my hip bone and shit it there hurts
Ishvale@reddit
I don't use it, I'm not out here jeansmaxxing
DetN8@reddit
Yeah, all of my pants these days are stretchy.
Secure_Bed_9110@reddit
I cannot abide hard pants anymore.
Ivy7424@reddit
Lip balm and half always used it for such if I was wearing pants with pockets and, as a girl, that tends to be a little more rare.
VinylHighway@reddit
It's for a pocket watch on jeans originally
Possible-Tangelo9344@reddit
Pretty sure it's a watch pocket...
povertyandpinetrees@reddit
I used to carry a derringer in mine.
Top-Wolverine-8684@reddit
I never use pockets. Most of my clothes don't even have them. That's what purses and wallets are for.
syntheseiser@reddit
My card-sized wallet fits perfectly in there
sobeitharry@reddit
Key fob.

Fair_Blood3176@reddit
I usually used it for a mini clear eyes.

Box cutter? How does it fit?
eljeffrey1980@reddit
oh it fits...just a jiffy cutter
Moons_of_Moons@reddit
💯🙃
scifithighs@reddit
I used to keep a Zippo in there; now I use it to carry those microfibre hankies for cleaning my glasses.
nuskit@reddit
Used for lip gloss or chapstick.
Chunklob@reddit
My dad told me to keep a condom in there.
Puzzleheaded_Race_90@reddit
I always thought that was for a zippo. That's the only thing that fits there correctly. Do you know the difference between a zippo and a hippo? >!One's really heavy, the other's a little lighter.!<
AYearInOaxaca@reddit
Chapstick pocket, for me
TheBr0fessor@reddit
You mean the AirPods pocket.
Ditzy_Davros@reddit
Lighter
Moons_of_Moons@reddit
It's for guitar picks. Period.
Trick-Session2388@reddit
I never once considered that was a pocket for coins. A lot of pants for ladies have pockets that are kind of useless, so I just considered it a fashionable "useless pocket."
AshDogBucket@reddit
Yep...
AshDogBucket@reddit
Oh it's so cool that you have pockets
AstuteStoat@reddit
I forgot it exists.
GreedyComedian1377@reddit
Long time ago that was the dope pocket
Just-Eddie83@reddit (OP)
A small bump could fit… my friend told me so
Konnorwolf@reddit
I use one of these.
AstronomerBrave4909@reddit
No coins in my swiss army knife pocket.

I use it for coins... and a USB drive.
IGotItBad82@reddit
I kept my little baggie of weed in that pocket.

Leatherman Skeletool fits perfectly.
Knife, pliers, screwdriver, bottle opener, what more do you need?
toomuchtv987@reddit
I always use it for a hair tie.
have1dog@reddit
It’s for guitar picks and/or drugs.
